To not like Israel is to not like Jews

What a stupid idea.

Are the two mutually exclusive?

If I don't like the Vatican do I suddenly not like all Catholics...

kd

Might well be taken as an indication that you very likely don't like Catholics... or at least Catholicism. Though yes, I agree it shouldn't necessarily mean so - perhpas you don't like their current policies etc...

With Israel there is obviously also a strong association with the Jewish faith - there are however significant groups of Jews who are anti Israeli - Jewish population of Iran for example(one of the largest Jewish populations in the middle east outside of Israel).

On the other hand you won't tend to get any groups of Catholics who are opposed to the Vatican - they tend to stop being Catholics and become Protestant.

Maybe they are tired of being the world piñata and decided to fight back?

That old chestnut is wearing thin. Before Israel was formed, during the formation of Israel and up to the current day the Zionist Movement has been a deceptive brutal one. To me it's plain to see what is the long term agenda of Zionist Israel.

I suppose you can dislike Israel, which has a rather high jewish population, so in effect you will be disliking some jews, but it's just collateral damage in your dislike for the nation in general and doesn't mean you dislike them because they're jewish, or that you dislike jews in general.

Its hard to like Israel how can so few people compared to the neighboring countries cause so much unrest. Most of the unrest in the middle east is caused by Israel policies if you move the people elsewhere the troubles in the middle east mostly go away but no one even thinks of that and never will guess why.Surely anyone can see that Jews and Muslims don't mix so why move them there in the first place its just asking for trouble. Its funny how everyone aims at Iran when Israel has already had nukes for years has been always aggressive in expansion again nothing is said about that either its always pro Israel, try and guess why.

But a valid point none the less?

And I do agree there is a Zionist agenda with Israel but it wasn't the focus point of the discussion :p

That's kind of like arguing a black man moving into a street of racists is "causing all the trouble" in his street by being black.

The Arab world can hide behind the "we don't like them because they're mean to us" excuse all they want but the fact is Muslims in that part of the world are antisemtic (and proud of it).

It wouldn't matter if you moved Israel to the North Pole, the Arabs would still hate them for no other reason that their holy book specifically states that Jews are scum.

Surely you should take people on an individual basis ?

As for Israel, History has taught them to stand up and take no **** from any one.Their geographical location and the coming about of that location has meant they have had to take an "under siege" mentality.

If they were out of the way so to speak, Island like the UK New Zealand etc then they may have developed into a less aggressive military nation ? but that's not the case.

Please explain how Jewish communities survived in the Middle East for centuries if everyone hated their guts.

Are you serious? You do realise the Jews have been persecuted and kicked around by the Arabs for the last 2000 years? I grant you this, 'survive' is the right word to use because they certainly weren't welcomed or left to live in peace over the last couple of millennia.

It is only in the last 60 odd years that the Jews have any kind of power (albeit military) in that region so I find it laughable that so many people make them out to be the evil ones. The Arabs have had it "their way" for over 2000 years and now they're complaining simply because they can't dominate the region like they did.

If you applied Arab logic to any area or city in the UK you'd be on a par with the BNP but for some reason, people (often left wing too) think that it's perfectly acceptable that one religion can demand it should be the only one in an area and that it is justifiable to kick off because you are being forced to live side by side with people who have different beliefs.

Imagine if there was a street in Bradford that mainly Jewish, would you find it acceptable for the Muslim community there to claim they shouldn't be there and that Bradford should be an exclusively Muslim area?

At the end of the day the Torah states that the geographical region Israel now resides "belongs" to the Jewish people. Followers of the Koran will point to passages that claim they are the rightful owners of the land and historically that region has been populated by various different religions and has had numerous names and border changes you can't really say any one group of people can lay a solid claim to ownership.

As an Atheist I think it's pathetic that all of this is being caused essentially by what two books claim, but given the Torah is much older than the Koran surely it should take precedence?

execuse me, but you are ****ing wrong.

Let me explain to you a fact from a Muslim POV. First of all Hebrows / Arabs are from SAM son of Noah. So you can't use the word antisemtic against Arabs or Jews.

Second, Arabs/Muslims don't hate Jews, explain to me the 70,000 jews living in Iran and they have 1 or two seats in the Iranian parliament, or Iraq since 1000s of years until 1945 when the British gov forced the Iraqi gov to push all the Iraqi_jews community out of Iraq to Palestine...

Sematics, the term "anti-Semite" was coined in Germany in 1879 by Wilhelm Marr to refer to the anti-Jewish manifestations of the period and to give Jew-hatred a more scientific sounding name. "Anti-Semitism" has been accepted and understood to mean hatred of the Jewish people.

Playing linguistic tricks if you like but most people take anti-Semite to mean 'anti-Jewish'.

Arabs/Muslims don't hate Jews

You just made me spit out my coffee with that one. You should go on BGT as a stand up comedian.

What next Hitler liked the Jews too, he was just misunderstood?

There's a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to the subject for Christ's sake....

This 100%..

Religion causes nothing but problems.

no, wrong interpretation of Religion causes problem.
The reason behind this (wrong interpretation) is Govs control, mafia, busniess profit...etc

Let me give you a quick example to why Westerns nations view Islam as a evil religion is because of the Wahabi Islam/ Suadi Islam and their $60billions/yr of marketing around the world.

You see, there are Suni, and Shiia you probably heard of em, they represent 99% of the 1.6 Billion Muslims, there interpretation of the Quran is 100% correct, live in peace and create a kind place for Humans and living creatures to live in...

Now, Wahabi Islam / Suadi Islam, example of people who follow this sect, Osam Bin laden and his family/tribe, taliban, Alqaeda, all those terrorist you see on TV, or the preachers like Abo Qatada, or any Selefi movements in the HydPark every sunday - what they have in common is:

Kill all humans who don't convert to your Idiology (interpretation of the Quran), and view the Jews as Monkeys and Christians as pigs.
and if you die while killing those Monkeys and pigs you will recieve 72 virgins and you will eat a dinner with the prophit immediatly after death.

mooooooohahahaha (laughing), even Muslims Suni and SHiia for them are viewed below Monkey line.

This fact can go really deap, it will take many A4s pages to write.

Muzy when you talk about interpreting correctly, you mean cherry picking the nice bits (that conform to modern moral standards) and ignore the rest?

All of the Abrahamic books condone murder, rape and slavery so thank Christ people aren't acting on them. If each religion actually did live by it's Holy book to the letter, we'd be in serious trouble.

:D Yeah OK, because Sunnis and Shias get on like a house on fire and live in harmony with each other don't they?

Jesus, if two sects of the same religion can't stop killing one other, what hope have other religions got?

Many Jews were living in Medina during the time of the prophet Muhammad PBUH, and Jews in general have been living throughout the Muslim world in peace for thousands of years. That's not to say there hasn't even been problems, there have been, but it is nothing compared to the situation we see there now.

It has been the white skinned European Jews, who weren't even Jews nor do they have any connection to the Holy Land (according to a Jew) who have been responsible for creating the Zionist movement and restoring a Jewish state in the Holy Land. It couldn't have been anywhere else in the World, it had to be there because then and only then can the Jews accept the Messiah, who as we all know, they are still waiting for.

The sad thing is, many Muslims do not distinguish between Jews and Zionists, so Jews all around the Middle East have had to suffer as a result of the actions of Zionist Israel. There is no solution because Israel has an agenda which in time will become more and more clear to everyone, and there is nothing that anyone can say or do to change that. But as long as Israel keeps talking about peace on the one hand I suppose it will keep some people happy, talk is cheap though.
