Car insurance - what a chore.

As above really - it's taken me most of the day giving my details to all and sundry to get my obscene renewal down from £1,500 to £1,015.

Which I still find disgusting for such a slow car but I doubt I can do any better than that :(

That is all.

In all fairness it's a very good price considering the risk profile but it's still a lot of money. My track car which is heavily modified only costs a little more than this.

The car is an E36 328 with lowered suspension. I'm 26 and have 2 years NCB although done via Admiral's accelerator policy so licence is only 20 months old.

As I have a second car I'm toying with the idea of laying it up for four months and seeing what kind of deal Sky or Footman James can offer me then.

I no longer live in scumville either - insurance is once again cheap now we have moved.

Chavtastic :p.

I've just paid £1450-ish to get my daughter insured on my wifes car which is a pitiful 1.4 Civic Sport, daughter is 21 and she's had her license now for just over a year, so cheer up.

My 18 year old son has also just passed his test and I'd need to drop another 5k on top to get him insured. Decided not to as it would be madness but he's itching to get behind the wheel.

Do i have to list my drum and bass CDs and baseball cap as mods on he insurance? If so then i'm ******.

I don't think the price you've received is that bad to be honest. I drive a 1.5dci megane and as main driver my insurance is just shy of £2,000 and I'm 22 had my licence for 4 years but only 1 NCB.

Wow. **** Postcode?

On my Yaris T-Sport my insurance is £1700, still a lot but expected as I'm 23, with 1NCB and 1 year experience. Soon to be 2 years. Wahoo.

Have you had insurance breaks in the meantime then, or have you got claims against you?

I know it's not too bad a price, and for my age and experience it's to be expected but frankly I don't enjoy paying this much for insurance (although no one does).

I fail to see how a 26 year old bloke with less than two years driving experience in a 190 bhp rear wheel drive car with a terrible reputation could possible be considered a risk ;)

I think I'm more miffed at the amount of work I had to put in to get it down this low, I had to do the round several times with various companies - and sky also went through pretty much the whole process before the bloke asked me when I passed my test, only to tell me they won't touch me until I've been driving two years.

My highly modified track car, now that I have moved, is £1,320 fully comp for 10k a year - for the same mileage adrian flux, who I have insured the track car through, want £1,380 for my daily with the same suspension dampers/springs installed.

The £1,015 is for 5k miles a year TPFT - I have 10k on the other motor so between them I should have enough miles to get me by so this is one option.

My other option is to SORN the car an then try to reinsure it again in September when I have had my licence two years.

What would you do?

Jees, i'm 29, 5 years no cliams, had license 10 years, and drive a e36 325i with quite a few mods, and it costs me 450 fully comp. Postcode area is rated as a f so not great, but been with same insurer for last 6 years, including a claim just under 5 years ago!

I know a lad who drives a e36 328 and has same details as me except no claims on his insurance. His insurance is 890 a year fully comp. It doesn't seem to make any difference about things, I feel it's a more random number generator!!

i shocked myself by finding insurance for my 2009 Civic Type R, aged 25 with 4 years NCB and NCB protection for £550

my previous car (1.6 2005 Civic Sport) was £440 with 4 years NCB and no protection... pretty much doubled the power of the car and added 25% to the insurance cost

19, 1 full loss accident (my fault), 2 years licence, 1 year no claims, £990. Albeit on a 1.4.

Still want 1.7k to insure a fiesta st :(
