The **Now Drinking** Thread

The place sounds like an absolute delight to drink at, couldn't imagine being that spoiled for choice or a bar tender who took the time to appreciate the ale on tap and time to listen to what you like and help you make choices you are going to enjoy.

Tennent's. Got some Trashy Blonde and 5AM Saint in as well.

My ASDA has stopped selling Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. A truly sad day. :'(

Cracked open a Trashy Blonde. Probably my favourite of the readly available Brewdog beers. It's very good, there is no doubt about that. However, after recently drinking stuff from Stone (IPA & Arrogant *******) and Sierra Nevada's Torpedo it pales into insignificance.

have npt tried trashy blonde yet, must get around to trying it.

ill have to fine somewhere that stocks the stone ipa, looks very interesting.

If you can't get hold of any, trust me your address and I can post a couple of bottles down.

Though, I just started a thread in GD about where to buy beer online. I've only ever used Beers of Europe, and just wondering if there are any other places with decent selection and decent price. Postage is usually the off putting thing for me though!

5AM Saint. It's awfully good!

I hit up the new Brewdog bar in Manchester this week. Was pretty good, although expensive. The funniest thing was that, despite the 'punk' image, 95% of the dudes in there were yuppies in suits.

They had a thing at their opening event last week where you brought in cans of normal lager, threw one (literally, there was a target) into the bin and got a Brewdog beer in exchange.

Also, currently drinking: Duvel.

I made a request for decent places to buy ale and pilsner, someone suggested beers of Europe and it does look like a good source but im not one for bulk buying beer, especially stuff i am trying for the first time and i do try a lot. as you say postage is always a major factor even though some prices for single bottles always seem slightly inflated and packs need to be purchased to feel any significant benefit.

get involved with Sierra Nevada. I've mentioned it a few times in this thread, and some people have bought it on my recommendation. They have all enjoyed it!

Interestingly, I got some Sierra Nevada for my boyfriend when I saw it, on the advice of people here (probably you Ahleckz) - he thought it was awful, was surprised as everyone I've seen mention it on here thought it was great.

He went to the local beer shop yesterday and came back with:

- Timmerman's peach beer (had never tried it before, he wasn't that keen but I liked it)
- Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter
- Samuel Smith's Yorkshire Stingo (he didn't think it was worth the £6.99  pricetag)
- Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale
- Acorn Brewery Barnsley Bitter
- Bath Ales' 'Gem' (this is his absolute favourite beer, can get hold of it at the big Sainsburys near us but a bit harder to get hold of up here in Yorkshire, you tend to only see their Golden Hare and Barnsey).

I'm currently drinking a mug of Yorkshire tea.

A rotten pint of carling because my pal was too much of a pleb to order me what I asked for on his round, realy is awful!!!

Is it not available in England DJ? My boyfriend wants to try it but I haven't seen it anywhere, Wiki says they're just trialling it in ROI and NI at the moment.

Yeah think it's still only ROI / NI and further afield being USA and Australia. It's quite a pleasant beer and nothing like Guinness in flavour but it should be drunk straight from the bottle (even states it on label) as poured out it will just mess with your head :) If you have an Asda local try there as I know for fact they are a stockist here, I'll also try and find out for you if there are plans / dates to roll it out widespread UK.

I've tried the two Asdas near here because I saw you said before that you got it from Asda. Never mind, if it's a success I'm sure we'll get it eventually.
