Well another Redundancy thread.
I am (was) Head Chef of a country pub/restaurant. Been there 8 years. But did leave in the middle for 1 year.
Present 'tenants' (my boss's) handed in there notice to the guy who owns the area in which the pub/restaurant resides on, about 5 weeks ago.
We are currently in the middle of a refurbishment (although business still trading)
The Guy who I am employed by, runs his business as (example) joebloggs.ltd ceases trading tonight at 10pm
the business is shutting for a couple of days for new equipment etc. Then will re-open.
I have been given a letter by my present boss from the liquidators saying the necessary forms to claim redundancy will be sent to me.
I also received my wages today.
I was under the impression, the new owners HAD to take on existing staff as they will still be trading, still needing a Head Chef etc etc. I thought a lot of this was covered under TUPE.
Bit confused with all this and shocked in a way. I am sure I will find out more tomorrow etc from the new owner/manager if they want to re-employ me and the other existing staff.
Any advice people with knowledge on here can give or questions you need me to answer would very much be appreciated.
