***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Am I the only one that absolutely hates the term 'buttery smooth' or any similar metaphor? I don't know why, but it really grates on me. I don't want my phone to be buttery; I want it to be responsive.

There is actually an XDA thread on this very matter :)

As a non-native English speaker who studied British English, I think it's just a silly Americanism (but I might be wrong). A bit like massacring the word "awesome" or "literally", which really gets on my nerves...

On topic: why on earth would you play a video in a ridiculously small window while you are browsing on another part of the screen? Surely phone screens are too small for this kind of multi-tasking?

You can enlarge the screen to your liking as well as making the video full screen ;)

Unless you're talking about the GS 3 video player overlay? Or just both in general :p

But yeah, I kind of agree after using it for a while now, it is pretty pointless, not so much due to the screen sizes but more so just being much easier and better to flick between windows via the multi-tasking window.

Especially for video, if I am going to be watching a TV show or something then I will watch it full screen and if I want to browse for something quickly, simply hit 2 buttons to get to the browser and just return to the video player once done via another 2 button clicks :p

It was more to show that this similar feature can be used on any android device and not just the GS 3 as a lot of people including myself find it to be a cool feature even if it is just a gimmick.......

shame it isn't as slick looking - nor can you play your own vids back like you can on the S3. :p

I am using an old version at the minute, so I don't have the latest features, which apparently have a smaller titlebar thing and allows you to hide the URL bar etc.

Yeah, I don't think anyone will actually use it except for showing off.

I read it as a poke at you in jest in reference to your ongoing touting of the One S, that's all... Mine was in the same jesting tone :)

Glad to see I'm not alone! Even the Verge has something to say about it.

In fact, I think they sum up my arguments entirely. Even the word smooth on its own would be better. Why the necessity to qualify it with a food stuff?

I have pre ordered the white one :O

Reasons:
  • Replaceable battery
  • Expandable storage
  • Charging unit on the bottom

They are quite small things but I feel they'll make a big difference over all.

The battery was the main reason. When I go out at night, my battery will run out of battery by the time I get home.

So yeah £500, spent a long time looking and deciding

Wait. So there's a difference between the two colours?!

Only just been giving it a quick try now, it works superbly on my S, smooth and fast even when watching a video via the browser through youtube in that overscreen window and at the same time browsing using the quick ics browser or a 1080P trailer and using overscreen to browser. Very quick wee browser as well. Shame about the UI of it though, don't think there is any button to hide the thick borders either :(
.

He's actually released a video pop up app too
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myboyfriendisageek.stickit

can play multiple videos and has gesture controls.

Oh  very nice! It also supports streaming :D

It has a minimal border/UI as well.......... :p

But as I said above about the other app, after about 10 mins or so you realise that it really is more of a gimmick/show off sort of thing and is far better easier just using the multi-task window in the end, but still very cool anyway :D

These apps would be excellent for large high res. android tablets though.
