Gary Neville appointed as part of England coaching staff

what qualifications / experience does he have to be given this role ?

experience..... really? Most appearances at Euro's for any England player IIRC, around 20 years in the premiership as one of the most successful defenders ever(maybe the most?), titles galore, cup experience galore, international experience galore.

He's, afaik, done several coaching badges by working alongside academy coaches at Utd(who will be amongst the best trained in the world) as well as being involved in coaching sessions by several of the best coaches and managers seen for over 20 years.

You realise that every player who has trained for 25 years, has experienced 25 years of coaching. Neville has probably seen more than most what works, and doesn't work.

Guardiola only managed one team for a year before taking over Barcelona, and it was the Barca B team anyway.

The actual badges you get and a lot of the content is..... of minimal use compared to years of experience in football.

that I can agree with

You seemed all to happy to discredit him as a coach?

Pearce has expeirence and is doing ~well with the Youth side (although that's relative), but seeing how you seemed to dismiss Nev's coaching experience surely you'd be happy at having a more 'experienced' coach in the mix?

I do agree, that personally I'd rather have G. Nevs around the England first team set up.

Jesus everyone having a pop and he hasn't even done anything yet. I think it's a shrewd move by woy. G Neville will help keep the dressing room happy , iirc Neville wrote a piece in the daily fail about England manager needing a good mix of staff like venables had in his time as England manager and that didn't turn out to bad did it ...............

They were talking about it last night on Sky, and saying will he be able to do as good a job on being a pundit now? As obviously, if he's his usual honest self about a players performance on Sky during a game, can he then go into the England training camp and have a decent relationship and motivate that player?

So will he have to now be a bit more careful what he says about England players?
