Chuffed to finally get the 20+ mph average!

Nice average mate, what app is that your using?

Woke up with tonsillitus this morning, gutted as my training was going so well. I managed to by some miracle get a doctors appointment this morning so have gotten some antibiotics. Hopefully it'll only be a couple of days before I feel well enough to get back out there... :(

That's why most people mount it on top of the helmet :p

You're right though, it is fairly cumbersome, but it easily gives the best picture quality in that price bracket. It's also got the largest choice of peripherals so you could, for example, buy the dashboard mounting kit and use it when you're driving too (for potential insurance claims this ability could prove to be a godsend).

Indeed.

I also smacked mine pretty hard against a wooden post and all it did was put a tiny mark on the camera housing (which of course is replaceable if needs be).

If you are using a GoPro for cycling, the best viewing angle tends to be from using the chest harness mount, as it shows far more of the bike and what you are doing. Angles shot from helmets tend to look a bit too floaty with no reference of what is actually happening.

I had issues with pain on the outside of my knee, which was down to tight muscles, particularly the IT band. Could it be this? It helped when I went to the physio to iron out my muscles. That was painful!

Possibly. I saw a physio some time ago who diagnosed tight ITB and hip flexors and gave me stretches to do after training. I had about 3 months off after the Kent Killer for various reasons, and when I started training again last week I hit it hard, doing what I was doing. Silly I know.

Have a look for a cheap turbo trainer as well. Good for when the weather outside is really poor.

P.S. Get well soon :)

Surely a chest mount whilst riding a road bike is just going to video the headset, or is the mounting angle on the harness adjustable?

It's adjustable, plus the wide angle means you capture a lot.

First example I found:

I GOT MY VOUCHER :D
just godda arrange a time to pickup!
just 1 question, is it worth upgrading the brakes to the same group as everything else or do generics work just as well as branded?

I'd leave the brakes until they start to fail if they ever get used in the winter.

I'm not sure how good those tyres are but thats what I would aim to change first and then maybe a decent set of wheels such as a kysrium elite in the future.

Oh my, shock to the system.

Decided to ride into work this morning, arrived at work so cold, was below freezing at 8am, legs not so bad, body not too bad (in t-shirt), hands and face were ice cold though, wear full finger gloves all year round and the cold just cut through them.

Have to look at getting some winter gear or stick to riding in the afternoon when its warmer, it's not officially winter until June either! :o

Yeah it's 2nd hand via bishop and they have already been upgraded, i'll post some photos once I've picked it up!

anyone able to advise regarding cycle insurance? it's covered at home under contents but when I'm out and about it's not so I was looking at something like Total Cycle Assist http://www.totalcycleassist.co.uk/ - apparently it's only £12 if you use the code "CS3" but doesn't look like it covers theft?

also I'm looking at getting a nice lock, would this be a good one

all I've got atm is a D lock I picked up at sainsburys about 5 years ago......

It's not a bad lock. If you're cycling to a fixed place every day I'd recommend two locks - two different types, taking two different types of key. Firstly you can lock up the whole bike with two locks; second, you'd need to carry two types of tools to cut through two types of locks; thirdly, you'd need to be able to pick two types of locks to pick them.

The only negative thing I have to say about those Kryptonite locks is the lock barrels on both of mine feel very worn after two years use and one of them sticks, despite keeping it lubed. Anyone else finding this?

cool, ordered it from amazon (35 there) so figured that and my existing locks will be ok for now, it's only going to and from work right now so pretty secure but I figure I'd best get some insurance before leaving it in town.
