iRacing

I give up with this already before I have even started. The quality of racers on this is like playing Forza 4 on 360.... people making moves from miles behind and ruining races. I can't believe that people pay for this and play it like it's ridge racer.

Maybe in the lower splits of the mx5 yes, remember some people may be on crappy hardware down there, may never have played a sim before or are very new. They may just people with a month sub who care nothing for there licence.

Start from the pits build up some results get out the WILD WEST ! a.k.a the lower splits and in the higher ones. Some laps we run like trains round LRP 1 second between about 5-6 cars all bumper to bumper. Your not going to get that in the lower splits. I also doubt you could handle that yet.

I hated the lower split mx5 racing, glad I stuck with it and saw it out, it will teach you a lot about race craft and how to avoid crashes. Every Mistake in I-racing I have learnt from, and most crashes when I sit back and think about it could have been avoided. Some well that's just racing.

Don't Put yourself in dangerous situations your survive more races that way.

cannot beleave i had a 14 minute pit stop and still got to finish a lowly 12th. Did so much better in the next race after tweaking my setup up to find something that felt good. got upto 5th(or 6th) and then binned it at moss when sorting a backmaker....of the fun of the Radical never stops. Seen you bumps Mr Peace - very unlucky :(

Stu C I take it ? white and red car ? had a nightmare in the 8:30 to 3 trips to the pits think I spent about 25 minutes in there, at one point there must have been about 9 cars all in there.

First lap one of the mid packers lost it at moss on the outside right infront of me giving me no where to go but into his side, trip to the pits tried to go with the quick fix that resulted in another off more damage and 10 minutes in the pit. In my eagerness to get back out I got a speeding in the pits as I exit into T2 someone had lost it over the crest guess who went straight into the side of them another trip to the pits for me and another speeding penalty lol.

Also did loads better in the 10:30 think we was lapping together for a bit mate didn't realise you was OCUK thxs for the space was nice battling with you. Was up to 3rd on the last lap only to drop it into the last but one and ended up 5th If I didn't laugh at myself I would have cried.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record before too long but one of the best skills you can learn in iRacing, or any racing sim for that matter, is crash avoidance...

It is extremely rare that an incident can't be avoided, yes it happens but it's rare, the rest of the time, regardless of fault, there's always something you could do differently to avoid the accident.

And of course, the rookie series do seem far worse than they were when I started, as mentioned start from the pits to avoid the nutters and just gain SR to leave rookie races way behind, it's much much better in the higher classes of racing (where people actually care about SR/licence)

when you race them races do you use coms ?

also how do you see what the corner name of a track are called?

You can get the track info via the website, once you've got the image of the track up click turn info on the bottom left and it'll give names if any or number

yer that is where i thought the info was .but when i select the turn info option to on it just have shows me the corner numbers and if i click on one of the numbers it just gives me the general track info.
i am guessing it must be firefox related. or a plugin as pc was newly formatted .so will try IE later when i get to th

Depends on the track, quite a few only have numbers and no names, and just checking Mosport reveals it does only have numbers on iRacing so my response was quite useless :)

That's better :p

It'll certainly be a step up from my old Logitech Momo. The guy I bought it off has done some brake mod on it as well, one of these I believe - http://www.nixim.com/index.php?pageid=brakemod

No idea if it makes much difference but it's suppose to feel more realistic.

Sod him arknor, concentrate on getting out that bottom mx5 split, saw your last race the 2nd was good the 8inc isnt all you got from that was 0.03sr. You need to do a few races with zero INC's your get 0.25 at least a race.

Your not really going to learn much with the pace you have now down there in the lowest split on I-racing forget wins until you get a IR rating it doesn't matter if you finish 1 or last.

Use everything you have learnt now to do a few races 0inc surely you can drive LRP for 15 minutes without driving off the road now ?

yea when i dont overdrive the car :P
im sticking to practice sessions again...

my best sr so far is from the one race i won with 1 incidents and i was slow back then lol

just gotta stop worrying about pace and stick to 1:02 ish laptimes i guess but ill do that in practice sessions its not worth racing in rookie
i guess you get more sr from races though compared to practice?

my biggest problem is i get back ache sitting in a regular chair playing with a wheel :( ill do one race/practice session and then feel like i dont want to do anymore

Hit us up if your need any settings its taken me weeks but now I have a setup and settings that im very happy with for the mx5 and radical and the feel through the wheel is the best I've had it.

I've tried every config I can find.

Thanks dude, that would be great. Do you have anything for the Skippy? I think that's where I'm going to race for a while as I don't own the Radical and I'm not sure my license is good enough yet as I'm Class D.

Your be there for ever doing it in practice your be better with TT's but even still that will take an age.

Start from the pits that should put you 20 seconds behind everyone. If you come up to anyone on the track unless you can pass them safe DONT pass sit behind them and learn from the mistakes they make infront of you, give your self about a 2nd gap so you can react if he losses it infront of you.

If your about to be lapped let them past as soon as your hit a safe zone.

I no its hard but if you do it right you can have a D class license within a few races and come race the innews-challange cup or grand touring cup with Us multiclass series. Or the high split mx5 the same 2 tracks becomes boring fast so the other two series may intrest you more and your allowed to use the mx5 there.

Timetrials should not take to long, just make sure y9u stay on track and the more laps you do in a timetrial the better for the SR. Once you are out of rookie get into the advanced rookie or D class series.
