Cat caught a bird....

phone your local RSPB place, they'll quite happily come pick it up and sort it out :)

done this when i found a guillemot (or small penguin like creature as i thought it was) in the middle of the road and brought it home

Get some live waxworms or some mealworms and feed it them. Pre-kill mealworms before feeding it them though. Dried mealworms won't suffice. Give it water dropped from something, or use a syringe. In the meantime, any insects/worms you can dig up/find.

It won't last long unless you feed it soon, so either get cracking, or stomp on it.

so wet bread is no good for it then and i need to go scruff up the lawn for worms ?

Are people forgetting its a saturday night? Not as if I can go buy mealworms etc and I don't know anyone keeps reptiles or would have such foods...

it's a baby blackbird just put it in the garden where the cat got it before it gets dark and its parents will find it and feed it, you keep it in and its as good as dead tbh.

Can't believe you couldn't tell that was a young bird!

Can totally understand about you not just putting it out again, but I have no advice!

I did say guessing from its actions its a young un!
And its a song thrush or so I have just been told.
I'm going outside with it now...

Looks like a baby blackbird to me but I don't know. It will need lots of attention, ie bring it food every 5 mins as the mother would. I tried keeping one alive once after my cats caught it, needless to say I never got to have a blackbird companion sat on my shoulder. :(

Give the RSPCA a ring and they will probably come and get it and see if they can save it (might be a bit unlikely but its more likely than you being able to at that age).

Real life bird needs keeping alive - give it to someone else, but then buy a Tamogotchi and have it wake you up ALL NIGHT just to clean up its **** and feed it.

Damn humans, you scary.

Bread is not very nutritious - get some proper bird mix from the pet shop if you actually want to keep it alive, or hunt worms etc to get the poor thing some protein!

Otherwise crush up a load of nuts and fruit into a paste with some water.

EDIT: To the sickos saying give it back to the cat to kill,

The amount of people here who don't understand that if it's fallen out the nest and unable to fly then it's going to die no matter what. The parents will not do anything for it.

I just took it outside again and told myself i was just gonna leave it....watched it from my window hop to the shed and sit there for a few a mins and felt like i was leaving to die so brought it back in and gave it some milky bread :(

Bread is not good! You're going to mess up its guts! Mash up some tuna or something! Remember it's digestive system is used to handling regurgitated stuff from the mother.
