How often do you re-gas your air conditioning?

This thread has spurred me on and it's too warm to go without it much longer so picked up some 134 from HRP this morning and shall sort it this evening!

Yeah it's what i've picked up, way more than needed but going to share it with my dad.

Fingers crossed I don't have any leaks as it's a reasonably new car but that's never a guarantee, shall see later!

Mine has worked in every car apart from my last mr2 so I've never felt the need to have it regassed. Must admit i've never actually turned the air con off in the civic, climate set and leave the car to it. With the Mr2 the roof came down on warm days anyway which made enough of a difference to remove the need for aircon so i never even looked into what was wrong.

Used the AC for the 1st time yesterday and it got chilly inside the cabin very quickly.

My previous car that i owned didnt have AC at all :P

Oh yeah - my bad. I bet Bristol has decent local/independant ac specialists though. I've heard too many Kwik Fit horror stories that I wouldn't go near them.

My ST has had a re-gas but only because it had a huge leak which caused a £700 bill to replace the needed parts.

Lovely and cold now though! :)

In 3.5years and ~50,000 miles mine has not been regassed. Air is still cold that comes out and has no odour. I have not had the AC off on a single journey though as well.

No, it's really good for the system to be running all the time.

Power and fuel is probably more relevant on cars smaller than 2 liters.

Well I thought I'd use it today seeing as it is boiling outside. Can hardly feel the AC! :( It does cool down the car but not as much as I thought it should, the air that it blows doesn't seem to be very cold. On full power its loud and when it's switched on it vibrates the car when idle in traffic etc, like its sucking engine power. Maybe I need to fiddle with the settings, it was set at 18c not sure if t goes lower. Shame I can't open the front windows as theres two spider infestations on both wing mirrors. :(

PS: Would low coolant effect it? As I don't have much in the tank at the moment!
