Well just fnished the skeleton king on my guest pass with the last character, the witch doctor...really enjoyed that play through, might just plod round leveling them upto 13 to see what other spells / gear i can get... definetely not upgrading until a patch comes out for the lag / fps drops though, think ill use either a WD / DH and a barb as my main 2 :)

Plagued + Vampiric on a burrowing leaper must be one of the most annoying combinations around...

Couldn't take down one at a time because they kept burrowing... My follower would just stand on the plagued bit so they'd basically get constant health regen... Had to keep running all over the place... Rar..

The force armour rune for energy armour makes it so you can only ever be hit for 35% of your max health. So the lower your HP the smaller the hit you take, but that's not really what is important. Where it becomes mental is when you begin stacking life regen / life steal.

At 60 without any vitality on your gear you have 4.7k hp so you can only be hit for about 1.6k dmg. If you can get your HP to tick around that per second then you're now one tough mofo. It isn't easy, I've been building towards this for a few days now and I have my 0 vitality, and 1.1k life regen and 400 life steal, I have to say around 1k life regen is when it really started to feel good to use.

This then couples extremely well with diamond skin using the crystal shell rune. This gives you a 20k absorb, which takes into account you only taking 1.6k hits, letting you take insane amounts of damage before that breaks.

From there the rest of your skill / passives is your call really. I use the rest for damage and rely purely on diamond skin in tight situations, with this build simply kiting for a mere 2-3 seconds will see you back on full hp and ready to blast again. Galvanize armour is obviously a great passive for the life regen.

When building towards this, if you're not quite at the 0 vitality I would recommend instead dropping diamond skin for mirror image + duplicates, mixed with illusionist passive. Your HP pool will be too big for life regen to matter, so those images tanking will be much better and can be summoned any time you get hit.

Here is my exact build, I tried to balance AoE / Single target the best I could for keeping the Nephalim Valor buff stacks for bosses:

Brilliant idea.

How much has this been nerfed now though? Is this pointless?

If you value enjoyment I wouldn't pick a WD , there's a reason its the least played class by a mile.

Pretty much every skill your ever going to use is obtained really really early on.

Once you reach hell the only real way to play is to keep 4 things on CD and spam zombie bears.
ugh.

This has probably been answered already but I am asking because the thread is 342 pages to finding the answer would take all day.

Does anyone know if there are plans to remove the "always online" DRM? Or is there a way to play without being logged into battlenet?
I disconnected 3 different times yesterday which also means losing my progress from the last checkpoint each time. It is very frustrating & means I probably wont upgrade from my guest pass to the full game. :(
The only way to remove the DRM is to run your own server, as most of the game is being calculated server side (damage, drops etc) to prevent hacking/cheating. There will eventually be custom servers released, there is for nearly every other mmo-like game out there. They'll never match blizzard servers though :)

Way to go Blizzard, nerf stuff instead off buffing classes. Why treat the game like an MMO? Joke.
Nerfing abilities that could be abused to make a character invulnerable is perfectly valid. They have said from the start they will be tweaking the game balance to resolve exploits or underpowered classes. I'm sure some classes will get a boost at some point because they're to spec for certain mob packs

I am not annoyed that they have nerfed SS, fair enough it was getting abused.

I posted my build on here yesterday but after reading the forums I decided to check out this SS build everyone was going on about. It was soooooooooo boring but really effective.

The only problem is Blizzard made bold claims that lots of builds will be viable and work effectively in the later levels but this simply is not true from what I have seen on people playing late hell > inferno. Many of the traps/snares that the Demon Hunter have become voided in Inferno. So what does the class have left to use???

Answers on a postcard.

This is probably true, the reason stuff is getting nerfed, I imagine is that it takes longer to implement positive changes than it does to nerf stuff...

More then my WD has haha.
In Hell, I can survive by killing with the OP Bears spamming build.
In Inferno .. i run and spam darts.

No other class is reduced to one useful skill by Inferno =/

So buff four classes to bring one into line with the rest..?

Then we'd have five OP classes, and the game would be less of a challenge, and they'd have to tweak it even more...

Not to mention that one OP build would be the only option for that class that would be viable, and we end up with Disblo 2 cookie cutter classes all over again....

That's a shame as I am really enjoying WD, will be interested to see how it progresses. This is my build so far on Nightmare

Thats a shame as i enjoyed the run through with that character, doesnt really work if the game is primarily a single player game, and there are characters that you would have major difficulties finishing the game solo :(

See how i feel when i actualyl get round to upgrading :p

With SS/Preparation for example, I can't see how it was/is abusing mechanics. The skills and runes are well described, it's not as if players were finding a glitch.

It was a bit of a joke though, I went from feeling like a Demon Hunter, laying traps, aggro some mobs, vault to safety, spam some more. Use my special attacks, elemental arrow or multishot.

To then stand in one spot, hold down left mouse, hold down right mouse, activate SS 3 times. reset with my ability, Repeat until everything is dead.

Zzzzzzzz

Yeah, it's the same with the Wizard OP tactics. These two classes are far more viable at higher difficulties. Just amazed this class imbalance made it past testing, the players noticed it quickly enough....

I guess I just don't like the idea of nerfs in a game where I would mostly be playing SP.

And the DRM thing.
