Will be ordering a pc in around 4 weeks time but is there any need of a SSD drive at this time. Should i wait and buy a SSD at a later date when they come down in price even more?. I dont think 120GB for £65 is worth it in my opinion but do you think i should get one. Im wanting a TV tuner if these PC are as quiter as i hope there going to be then i will use my PC as a TV as well and then use my PC as a recorder as well.

Will not say exact date i will be ordering as i dont want OC to put the price up between now and then :P.

Defo ordering though but got to wait a few week or 4 weeks be for i do order as other things are stopping me at this time. please note i Will not order if price goes way up :p lols.

120GB for £65 is good but comparing to SATAIII drives, transfer speed is low, in some reviews it has lower or just as same trasfer speeds as a fast HDD!(if you are referring to the SanDisk Ultra SATAII SSD)

Edit:
But for lower power consumption, silence & not having any moving parts SSD wins all the time!

Considering prices are at an all time low and the response times on even the lowest end models are hugely better than any mechanical hard drive out there, it seems like a no brainer as above.

YES, single best upgrade you can do to your system and the prices at the moment are soo good

£65 for the 120GB Sandisk is a no-brainer a definitely not overpriced!

I bought a 50GB Vertex 2LE for over £150 and a 100GB Vertex 2LE for over £300 and didn't regret it...

... biggest upgrade you can stick in any pc with sata connectors and 2gb ram+, imo

Brought the SanDisk Ultra 120GB yesterday for my x58 motherboard. Even though it’s on SATA II, the performance is amazing compared to my 2TB Seagate. Took less than 20secs for my computer boot from the Windows 7 screen, to desktop going idol even with all the junk I have on my tool bar.

I love SSD drives so much i replaced my optical drive with a SSD in my laptop. ZOOM ZOOM! as stated a mechanical drive is one of the largest bottlenecks a PC can have.

I bought a Crucial m4 7 months ago for about £150 and thought it was worth it back then.

It's a bigger upgrade than going from say the lowest AMD bulldozer processor to an Intel i7 3770k

EDIT: In terms of responsiveness and boot/load times, obviously it won't make your pc run spreadsheets faster or get higher FPS in games.

I have a VelociRaptor Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5
My motherboard Rampage 11 extreme only supports SATA 11 but will down clock a SATA 111 ... Would I notice any speed difference?

I recently got myself a SSD. Placed it in my PC and... WOW! The speed increase is amazing. Everything is so much more responsive. I only have a 60GB drive with windows, anti virus, photoshop and firefox installed... Best upgrade I ever done.
