I need sunglasses. I have no idea what I need. I prefer bigger ones rather than smaller as I find small glasses let too much sun in.

I have no idea a if some offer better protection than others...

As far as cost is concerned... err, if £20 will do the job then so be it. If it needs to be £100 and there's no way around it then that's ok.

It'd be really spanky if I could find somewhere local and just buy them tomorrow, as my eyes are sore already and it's only been a couple of days sun.

Poundland, many styles, if broken or lost, was only a quid!

Was my sunglasses attitude until I had to get prescription ones

Ok, well I've got a couple pairs of oakley's that are good (Whisker and Flack jacket). I think they were around £100 each though. Best bet is to go and try some on though as some can be a bit of an odd fit... especially if you have a big dome like me :p

They are a bit style over substance even though they are built well. Why not go ask a optician if you're worried?

Well depends, im sure a wiki of sunglasses might help. I got a pound pair from store in Wrexham once, on further inspection was a pair of Next shades with the labels permanent markered over'd.

I was was aye bad for sitting on them or losing them, saying that still got my false Prada's from Singapore I bought 5 years ago.

Any ideas if cheaper ones would do the same job, or is there some kind of filtering going on? I don't want to spend £100 unless I'm getting something for it...

Also, any idea what type of shops would sell Oakley sunglasses? I know Boots do sunglasses but I think they're cheap ones.

I've had a Boots pair for 3 years, well spent £15 quid I've used for travel, sports, skiing, hiking, every day etc

Get yourself down your local "Sunglasses Hut" try some on and buy the ones that look right for your shape of face.
No one can tell you this.

Oakleys with polarised lenses for me, I'm terrible in bright sun light, but both pairs of Oakleys I've had have been awesome.

Ok... I guess it's Oakleys then. I think it'd be a train trip into Glasgow to find a sunglasses hut - they have a place in Buchannan Galleries. Unless someone knows of an alternative to Sunglasses Hut?

Edit : Anyone know how competitive Sunglasses Hut are with online? I'd like them soon, but if it's an extra £40 to get them at the weekend over Tuesday then no thanks! :)

Already have Andi, I can't find anywhere nearby that lists what they sell. The one in Bellshill for example is an optician and might sell just 3 or 4 and at a horrible price for all I know.

Pretty much even the cheapest of sunglasses these days offers protection from UV Rays. More expensive lenses such as polarising ones will cut down on glare and are useful for things like driving.

As others have said, your best bet is to go to a shop and actually try some on to see what fits your face shape.

Yeah, I know I can't really buy online without doing that, I'm really just trying to find out what I need to look out for.

It seems that style, design and durability are what money buys, almost all sunglasses it seems will do the job properly...

I like the look of Oakleys though, so that's what I'm thinking so far. I think I'll go to Sunglasses Hut and see... My concern is that they'll have a huge markup over online prices.
