Just got belial down on inferno, was easy enough, just took forever because my dps is terrible, nearly lost my neph stack.

Act 3 doesn't feel like a massive step up, or at least not initially, though im back to getting stomped by rares. :D

I would be careful with buying stuff on the AH, it can ruin the game with making loot from you're game irrelevant for use, which will make it boring. I bought a weapon in nightmare mode, and i cruised through act 4, killing stuff so easy, it wasn't even a challenge. Luckily that weapon became old quickly and my gear become on par with the content in hell mode.

That's why I'm not buying a single thing from AH.

I was originally buying bits from AH, but it started to feel a lot like cheating. Not much difference to going into a level editor and typing in the values of dex, vit, atk speed that I wanted and carrying on playing with stupidly overpowered gear.

I'm still using the AH for selling whenever I get a good item that I don't need on any of my characters

Belial seems to be the hardest boss in the game imo just because of the lack of space...

His fist attack can hit you even if you're not in the circle because it has a massive hit reg. His breath attack will hit you unless you're stood in the corners (or can time a vault/leap/teleport through it or somet). And his meteor attack peppers the entire area and is difficult to tell which ones will land first so you can avoid them. And the corners look like you can go up to avoid them only to be met by an invisible wall so you get splattered (as happened to 2 of us in our NM 4man yesterday :p).

Butcher has a lot of attacks that are tricky to avoid but he stuns himself and I guess doesn't have that much health compared to the rest. Azmodan has a gigantic area to fight in with very few threatening attacks. Diablo is more a test of endurance. He's a damn good fight though and can't just instagib you like Belial.

What ruins the game for me is having to make do with some rubbish weapon 10 levels below me. But I enjoy D3 because I like playing and progressing, not because I care about the drops.

Yeah that's how I feel.

The point of this game is to find great items, needle in a haystack right? Not get to a point where it's getting a bit tricky so jump on AH and cheat your way through.

Yes I know AH is built in to the game, but for all intents and purposes it's a form of cheating.

hated the belial fight, i need more space lol

all other bosses i've done so far were pretty easy and diablo will die tonight :D

edit: to above posts. i am using the AH every now and then. but i would'nt use it if Blizzard would fix the item lv that drop of mobs. i mean gear dropping that's 10-15 lvl below me is just pointless :(

This, along with the complete randomisation of stats, the likelihood you'll find something that's an improvement is remote. Combine that with the dependence on gear to proceed through the game - and the AH becomes a necessity.

I got a drop in Act 1 Inerfno yesterday, and I think it's been only the 2nd or 3rd item decent enough for myself to use.

Loot drops above and below the monster's level. Probably weighted to below more than above.

I like the auction house, I don't want to spend hours farming areas to try and find something better so I can progress. In Diablo 2 in all my years of playing I think I found one ist rune.

The end game is inferno, and then you need to farm for gold/sell items to upgrade to something specific to your class.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above points. The gear that drops is off too low a level compared to your character level. This makes you dependent on the auctionhouse for drops and thus just makes the game into a gold farming grind. Theres no sense of wonder or excitement from all the redundant loot that drops. Cynics might say they baked in dependency on the auctionhouse to boost their profits when the real money auctionhouse hits. They'd likely be right.

Added to my aggrivation is the fact the game freezes regularly, eventually crashing. Thats with the 12.4 hotfixed drivers.

Everyone kind of slates the BS atm, but I think come end game he might be more popular.

kd

People are slating the Blacksmith because he's terrible for your first character, and one character is all they have so far. For subsequent characters the BS is a brilliant way of getting a constant supply of rare items as you level. Still needs a bit of tweaking on the prices to craft, mind you.

In the first two weeks of Diablo III, I have spent more time playing with other people than I did in the two weeks I played SW:TOR. 'Nuff said.

I can understand your point of view, ive even thought to myself sometimes this feels a little like cheating....

But ultimately although my 42 barb is pretty well geared up now with my kit nearly all yellows I find the game is still challenging, especially when meeting champions and bosses etc. Maybe it should be more challenging but I came to the conclusion that sourcing good items on the AH was all part of the fun and skill of the game.

For example its not like I have unlimited funds in my account and I can buy the best of everything on AH with ease. I normally have to spend a good amount of time looking for those opportunties to grab something that my limited funds can afford, it takes time, and often I end up in bidding wars in the final minutes....its actually quite fun!

I agree with the fact that most of the drops I get at the moment arent good enough to use, but I dont mind that because it provides me with the cash to buy something I really want on AH. Also when I do find something I can actually use it makes it more special.

For me roaring through normal and nightmare is a given, its all about when you hit lvl 60 anyways, then I will be looking for that set gear.
