Beer is losing its alcohol

Does Budweiser really count as beer?

Yes it does. I don't like it, but plenty of people do. Or are you a beer snob and going to try to maintain they're not really enjoying it?

Real ale fans annoy me - I think it's wonderful that they've found something they like. Just wonderful. I'm thrilled. Really. But stop trying to force it on me. I enjoy pale lager, and I've no time for pests who want to try to convert me.

It's a good thing that this just tends to apply to beers I wouldn't go anywhere near. Dont think the pint of Thornbridge I had yesterday was any weaker than it used to be.

ale is flat and too fruity

Not all ale is flat :D, and few ales are fruity :p

Thats because you drink real beer, from a brewer who is making a quality brew and not just after profits. :D

I hope you enjoy your Budwater.

What is with this?

Carlsberg 4 to 3.8% (ok this was quite a long time ago but still counts)
Carling 4.1 to 4
Stella 5.2 to 5
Budweiser 5 to 4.8

This is just 4 examples, I'm sure there is other examples too. Not to mention the numerous new ranges of 4% beers as if they're some sort of luxury.

Why is the quantity of alcohol in my beer reducing, yet the price I pay is increasing?

It's ****ing bull**** and I'm annoyed!

stella went down to 5% ages ago.. now its down to 4.8% :(
id rather drink ~4 cans of 5.2 than ~6 cans of 4.8 which is whats happening :(

None of those are beer; they are all a triumph of marketing over a complete lack of anything approaching taste. I've sent better down a drain.

I'm all for weak beers as long as they taste nice. >5% beers just get me drunk unless I'm only having one or two.

If more pubs had a decent 3% mild I'd be happy.

I only drink wine and spirits so it doesn't really bother me. However it seems to be part of a more general trend of reductions in food portions and so on without a reduction in price. A random example is that I used to be able to purchase 2.4kg of mince for £10 at Tesco. I went in last week and it's now 1.8kg for the same price. Hardly anyone is seeing pay increases yet everything is either being skimped on or simply increasing in price. Starting to annoy me.

But why? That only makes sense if you want to get drunk. In that case why not go for special brew or similar.

/edit - suppose I overlooked the fact they won't be any cheaper.

I hope you enjoy your Budwater.

You see where I said I didn't like it? Yeah. That's because I don't like it.

But you can make your snide little elitist comments all you like, people will enjoy what they enjoy.

People crowing on about "real" beer just sound like ******s.

It seems since I was a kid in the 80s pretty much all food and drink has changed so it's weaker, smaller, contains less fat/sugar/salt etc etc.

It would interesting to go back just to compare some of these things in terms of how their taste has changed.

To be honest, I'm still p****d off at how small a Topic Bar is nowadays.
