If you do get one you've effectively got a defective unit as Samsung wont have made the decision to recall lightly due to the backlash.
If it was a simple problem with the back cover it would surely be easier to just send them out afterwards so there must be more to it

Nowhere does it say that the problem is with all blue covers. It is stated that it is a problem with a BATCH or blue covers. This coud be down to a number of issues such as a production machine developing a fault that was not picked up resulting in a substandard BATCH of covers. All the other covers could be fine:

I just rang mobiles.co.uk to ask them when I can expect delivery of the S3 which I preordered, and they said it's been posted out and should be with you tomorrow. No despatch email or nothing, but it should be here tomorrow!? Guess I'll find out tomorrow how reliable they are...
