iRacing

Thanks.

Sorry I didn't answer your message last night on Steam, by the time I'd read it you were shown as offline. I don't turn off my PC that often and Steam doesn't show you as AFK automatically, so I appear online nearly all the time.

np I log out of steam when playing i-racing just incase I get the problem i had the other week when leading a race and steam decides to do a big fat 2-3 gig download, knocked me down to about 10fps lol and I just had to pull over and let everyone past.

next time just drop onto iracing and I should be on there if I've mentioned an iracing practice session.

be doing one tonight if anyones interested need some time at this weeks track havent even run this layout, only done about 10 minutes of the long :(

dont think im ever gonna be good at this.

im still noobing around in low 1:01's on lime rock lol
from my last race @ lime rock in the mx5
12 01:01.935
13 01:01.275
14 01:01.108
15 01:00.972 fastest lap
16 01:01.689
17 01:02.094
18 01:01.512
19 01:01.250
20 01:02.275

im incident free pretty much all the time but never seem to be getting any faster.

my optimal sectors would net me a 59:xxx but im always 3+ tenths off my optimal sectors so never come close to it.

ill work on getting upto c class and seeing if i can get anywhere near close to the pace in the radical if not i might just give up

dude your doing great, why do you have to be the fastest to race or have fun.

im never fastest in the radical but i just love racing...

when racing do quali then you will be racing with boys around the same speed as you, nothing better or more fun than a good battle whether its for the lead or mid pack...

If you're anything like me you'll be ok at some tracks with certain cars and nowhere on others. I'm rubbish at Lime Rock, but not too bad at Zandvorrt.

Well since I renewed my vows with iRacing I've not touched it, I've been so busy.

Typical.

I really need to sort myself out and get some laps in.

lol i dont want to be the fastest but everyone else seems to be able to do low 1:00's easy enough.

just did a race and won but my fastest lap was only something like 1:00.815

got 2 incidents from trying to go faster though :(

ocassionaly ill get stuck in a race with nearly everyone doing under 1min laptimes and it just makes me feel ****..

had a race earlier where the winning cas in the 58's almost everylap lol....

anyway im upto CLASS D 3.71 so not long until i can start focusing on the radical and hopefully i can atleast be competitive enough to race with you guys sometimes

Going to try make teh school tonight chaps really need it as Im struggling with this weeks track.

Spent an hour last night driving Oulten Park started in the Mx5 then went to the slowstice and then did siome laps in the Radical managed a 1:21.*** right on last years race pace managed it after about 15 minutes, glad I've drove that track a little now.

Only thing was I'd been driving the international with chicanes version dooohhh
seems you used the none chicane version last season.

Really cant wait for Oulten park its not somewhere I'm going to be beating you and Josh but least ill enjoy taking a beating such a lush track :P

G managed to get .2 up on Peters time after that little session at Atlanta, we had last night checked his times so least I can actually race but no I'm really going to struggle with this track I can see Peter whooping me over the race distance no way I'm going to hold that chicane for 45 minutes.

Dont have the confidence in the set yet which isn't helping.

Road Atlanta Short is tough in the Radical. I really struggle with turn 3, I spin nearly every time.

Your not the only one, Im having to go through it at a snail pace, this lot are going through it about 100mph sideways, I started to get it alittle after some laps with G, but really not confidant with it yet.

I found for now forget going wide at 2 stay tight you can then brake from 2-3 in a straight line and keep the car balanced and straight. Helped me loads into 3.

Its not as fast as this lots line but its allowing me to make the bend, next Ill learn taking 2 wide swinging into 3 and launching in blind faith over that curb.

Out of about 40 attempts last night I think I got it right less than a dozen times.

Maybe you need some of Spils Help, I can nail lap after lap at low 1:00 np I bet its all down to the speed your taking into T1 and the line your taking into the last bend, Thats where the laps made or broken. I can have alook at your laps if you want and see where your going wrong.

Also remember some of those mx5 guys have been racing LRP since 2008 etc they have hundreds of hours at LRP we have what a few weeks. 1.01 is a good time mate chin up and I'm sure your make it into the 1:00's

Also as you improve it gets harder mate to win my split is such a battle one mistake and a top 3 is gone out the window. Who cares about winning though im not an alien I may never win a Radical race, but i no ill have some fun along the way and thats all that matters. *Beating Gravey in a race is also on my to do list for Iracing* Ill be happy with that.

Well I've finally recovered my C class SR back up to a more respectable 2.58 after having been as low as 1.20 last week.

I made the mistake of trying to do some iracing after a couple of beers and it did not go well at all! I kept trying again and again to make the SR back but only succeeded in making it worse.

I've been doing quite a bit of skippy racing and it's really helped smooth my style out compared to the MX5. I'll concentrate on getting more practise in for the Radical now and see if I can manage a couple of races later in the week.

oulton is the best track in the game infact its 1 of my fave in the world...

that set that i did for atlanta aint the best mate ive spent no time making it i just adjusted my set from last season, it does understeer abit, but strangley that seems to suit my driving style now, im down to a 51.8 with it and there a few more 10ths to be had...

im sure some of the other lads will have some good sets out soon or in the school server tonight, my heads not in the right place to sit there and make a set, ill just use other peoples...

lol you will beat me, you just need more seat time, josh beats me most of the time...

t3 at atlanta, you have to get t1 right.

t1 look for the tarmac patch on the left hand side of track when in line with that dab brakes down to 4th get good turn in and hit then inside apex let it wash out slightly then bring it back out to the right hand side and stay wide if you get it right you will be on the limiter of 4th but dont change up just back of slightly, then turn in over the crest for t2 as soon as you get on the kerb on the left hand side hit the brakes down to 3rd and just get your right hand wheels on the inside apex...

For the new guys looking for speed I can't recommend Ispeed more enough. You can compare lap times with the fastest guys to see where you are losing out. If your real serious about telemetry then motec and atlas is great for iracing

I think the days of me beating you on raw pace are well and truly behind us :p Both Mosport and Road Atlanta you're comfortably quicker and not sure I can make up the difference here

I agree with T1 as well, going too hot into there just ruins T3, take it easier through there and T3 almost becomes easy, well as easy as a completely blind sharp right can be :p

aye me hot lap pace isnt too bad we seem to be within a few 10ths of each other at most tracks but you have better race pace than me, thats some thing i need to work on...

yeah t3 steady and smooth is the way forward it is hard to get the turn in right, but like you say just becomes quite easy after time, mind you i didnt agree with how paul showed peeps you could cut that much, that never works for me i always get a 1x and it unsettles my car...

Yeah, same here, I also tried it and got 'wheel damage' the first time, d'oh :p

I aim to only just tap the curve, also through the esses afterwards I stay off the kerb in the right hander (although I can see how it's doable, just don't see the need), I occasionally hit the kerb on the left hander though.

But I think it's a place where several different lines 'work'

wheel damage is cos the fronts 2 low on the set as its from last season and now we know we were running too low and hitting the bump stops, im sure when the other lads do sets that shouldnt be a problem...

the esses, i turn in as soon as ive hit the kerb on the left and just power through if i hit the kerb on the right it dosent seem to make much difference...

i cant see how taking the long right hander onto the straight is faster trying to take it in 5th either...

Fair enough,

If anything I found 5th laboured ever so slightly, so I'd expect the higher revs in 4th when you do get on the power to give a bit of an advantage, although maybe that would be offset by the shift time...
