I don't want to have to rely on the AH though, it just seems ridiculous to me that you can't get your own drops unless you want to me massively undergeared aswell as not having any items with fully useful stats.

Its a joke that server maintenance means that you can't play a single player game. Last night was the third time I've had a session cut short. What am I paying my money for??
Was getting my ass handed to me half way through act two on nightmare. My gear just from drops was just not good enough. So nipped onto the auction house for the first time and picked up a few quick bargains. Wow, what a massive difference they made! Was kicking ass until the error 1 message.

im my experience there is no way you can be competitive in nightmare and above unless you either farm a lot or buy from the auction house - your average playthrough drops just wont be up to scratch.
I've just defeated SK on Hell with my monk, without using AH. Had a small amount of grinding at beginning of Hell because I was getting owned by some of the champ packs, but been pretty smooth sailing throughout. Only died once during boss fights, and that's because I took about 3x the damage I was expecting for Azmodan (NM) and failed to heal before he hit.
Obviously I know things would be a lot easier if I just went on AH and bought some gear, but I'm enjoying checking my loot to see if I've managed to luck into an upgrade, which is never going to happen if all you use is AH gear
I could farm all day long but if i'm only getting level 9 rares i have no chance of improving my gear.
Disjunto, i only have 1 AH item, my weapon. I have spent thousands on the BS so i can get semi decent items for myself as even if you're lucky enough to get a drop with proper stats it's is inevitably too low level.

I think your main problem is you have drastically out levelled your area, and loot tables are based on map over player level. surprised you're not just walking through every mob in the game at the moment

@Shami Are you using the AH? Also don't use both Blizz and Hydra. Use one or the other. I like Arcane Orb + Blizz.
Diablo is all about farming though, thats the whole point of it 
According to my stats I've killed 57,812 monsters and 2059 elites, a large amount of these with 5 stacks of NV and I've seen 1 legendary and 0 set items.
Good stuff doesnt drop often, and the likelyhood of it being something you can also upgrade from is even smaller. Its meant to take months or years to get the best or near best items, not a couple of weeks.

For the guy interested in my mates Barb stats from the other day, at the time (act 2/3):
47k health, 850 resist all, 10k armour (ish, wasn't 100% sure but it doesn't go up a lot anyway, its only 11.2k now in much better gear), 1900 health on hit, 19k DPS.
And speaking of act 2.. Brick wall!
really wanting to get through it solo but its just not happening with my WD =/
Tried three sets of gear with no success.
38% attack speed, 39.2k DPS, 30k health - no luck.
750 resist all, 61k health, 21k DPS - no luck.
550 resist all, 33k health, 20k DPS, 1600 health on hut - no luck.
Ugh ;(

Yeah I have been using the AH, I know my weapon DPS is a touch lower than it could be (haven't upgraded it for 5 levels maybe) I'm using Blizzard to help slow down groups and hydra because I can drop it and concentrate on avoiding things. My other skills are diamond skin, magic weapon and elemental (both to increase my dps) My main attack is the magic arrow (as it's single targets I struggle against, not groups the rest of the primary skills seem a little useless)
I'll post my stats when I get home and hopefully someone can let me know if I'm really lacking somewhere! I used to use arcane orb but by the time I've stopped moving and fired it I'd probably be dead, it's better at close range because of how slow it moves.
Thanks to the servers being down, I managed to pick up a legendary set pistol crossbow (Danettas Rage or Fury, can't remember which) for 100k 
. I put a silly bid on it as it only had a few hours to go before the auction ended just as the servers went down! Not sure if I should resell it or keep it though, I'm tempted to keep it but it isn't quite as good as my current 2h xbow.
Also, last night in the space of about 2/3 hours I got 6 yellow pistol crossbow drops, 1 yellow bow and 2 yellow quivers (as well as some other random bits), has anyone else noticed that drops are more relevant to the toon you're playing or did I just have a very lucky night?

I rarely get barb related stuff on my barb, normally WD or DH.
Starting to think blizzard are just favouring DH now
my inventory just gets filled with bloody quivers!!!

Currently act 2 in hell,got 31k health isn't that too much for my monk?I was watching a guy in act 2 inferno and his monk had 30k.
my monk in act 1 hell has about 27k health, slowly moving towards stacking dex + res as I seem to have a bit too much vit gear. I don't even know how my HP got so high, I'm sure it was closer to 10K when I started playing yesterday, and I removed vit from my amulet for a massive dex + atk speed rare

Man the Monk gets seriously boring after a while. Wish I'd levelled Demon Hunter or Wizard instead. They get all the fun toys.
