Will people still watch films/tv from this era in the future (100 years+)

I can clearly imagine a lot of films being considered to be the equivalent of a cutting edge documentary in 100 years.

"Oh wow, did you see the documentary about when our Earth-bound ancestors used their fossil fuel burning automobiles to compete against each other? I felt like I was reall there!"
"Yes, it was called Fast and Furious wasn't it? Hard to imagine that their whole Earth economy was based on stealing primitive electronic goods and 'racing for pinks'. Truly primitive."

Depends what they are being watched on, say to somebody today "old film" they won't be that put off but say "black and white" and they will be very unlikely to bother watching, I can see a time when recommending an old film will result in "im not watching some 2D rubbish, its not even holographic!" in the same way people today usually laugh at the notion of going to the theatre to see a play.

There will still be a forum somewhere 500 years in the future where the above will still get posted. It's one of life's certainties.

I think that comedy will become a lot more niche, but cult films will still be viewed, and documentaries for historical purposes. One of the greatest things is that our news will be recorded in such great detail, so we really will have a lot of information to learn from (I'm probably talking more than 100 years here...).

But yes, in general I think that we will still want to watch today's footage. It is fascinating enough to be able to find an artefact from history, or see an old photograph. This natural human curiosity to see the world before you were part of it will always remain.

I still watch movies form the 50s and 60s, and occasionally earlier. I am sure in 50 years time I will still be watching and enjoying movies from the 1960s.

Same with music, TBH, I rarely listen to anything outside of the 60s and 70s, and I listen to more 50s than 90s or 2010s music.
