its also wrong that the national anthem combines religion and state, thats all gonna change soon anyway, charles cannot be a credible king and it can't jump a generation so with elizabeth the monarchy dies

I don't really understand the support on here for the royals to be honest,really though what is so great about our country for a lot of people going through hardship for many years and probably many more to come.

Charles could be a credible king and he could retire anyway. If he did, the crown would pass to the next in line. At the very most, if for some reason it was made impossible for Charles to retire without also removing his descendents from the line of succession, it would pass to Andrew.

Why would Charles not be a credible king?
Why couldn't the crown pass directly to William?
And why is it 'wrong' that the national anthem combines religion and state?

Or is it just another case of being anti-monarchy without any proper argument other than "monarchy's bad.. mmmmmmkay"

edit - and before you give me a history lesson, I'm not an idiot. I just don't understand the relevance to a celebration in her honour.

I bet most people who actually complain about the UK have no idea what it is like to live in another country, I moved to Brazil 5 years ago, and it's no walk in the park, I wanted to leave in England because I was bored and tired of the constant bickering and moaning for generally little or no reason whatsoever, now living in Brazil has taught me how hard life can be and the fact that in England life is actually very comfortable and cosy, we just never realise it.

It's the typical British persona "complain at all cost):p

I love it here, it's just life is much harder than in England, but the good outweigh the bad (most of the time).

It's part of our country and history man. Those hardships are caused by the Government (their messed up policies) not the Royals. If they have no real power and the'yre just a figurehead that draws in revenue, i don't see the harm in not having them. I guess some people are Royalists and some people are not, but you cannot deny the Kings and Queens of this country have had a huge impact on the history of the world!

You're into Astronomy, what about the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. That didn't just build itself man lol. From there the Prime Meridian was established.. the basis of measurement and time itself. All thanks to Charles II King of England.

Fair point seb,however i think the monarchy is so outdated now,and in my opinion is not needed in the modern world.:):)

When you die then, all your assets that would normally be passed down to your kids, will be liquidised, sold off and then the cash burned. I mean, it'd be wrong if anyone were to inherit it because they didn't earn it, right?

The Royal Family's personal wealth that's passed down from generation to generation is no different to that of what we inherit ourselves.

I absolutely adore the monarchy and long may it continue. I'm not going to get involved in this debate though as I don't need to explain myself to anyone! However, wishing the death of people is just disgusting. I hope you're proud of such distasteful views.
