I dont think people not using authenticators are fools why should they need to pay extra to get security on their account on a £40+ PC game?

Ive never been hacked yet on any online game and d3 has a seperate email/pass never used for anything else, so I wouldnt be chuffed if I got hacked on it.

it's free on a smart phone or a bit of cash otherwise. It's very worth it, because of WoW and now d3 battle net id's are very valuable and hackers trying many means to get your details are rife.

you don't have to pay extra last time i looked? but i don't have one no need really...

you do if your phone doesnt support the app.

People should have the security they need with the game they buy. If no one has been legitimately hacked then thats great. Without all the info we have no idea if its just people being fished or looking for dodgy stuff and getting stolen accounts.

There is no problem with hacking. It's just fools not using an Authenticator. kd

I'm not so sure its just people without authenticators. Do people not find it odd that most reports of Hacking, the only toon thats been stripped is the one they were currently playing. Anyone who's played wow knows, that when hacked they strip the account, not just one toon.
Reports of lvl 15s being stripped! but not lvl 60s on same account.

I'm not saying its isn't keyloggers, as most caes it is account sharing and clicking stupid links, but there are too many reports of single characters being stripped and being logged off while they are in game on said character.

Actiblizz denials of id spoofing not working could well be a cover up. It I admittedly know nothing about such things and how they'd work, but somehow people are getting 'hacked' while playing yet their passwords etc aren't compromised.

Good money earner for Blizzard, get a few accounts hacked and rake in the cash for their authenticators... *tin foil hat*
It does suck if your phone doesn't support the app, for the amount they are charging, they should include authenticator in the box.

odd how so many peoples characters got looted in the first week when they only had junk items, just seems to me like its not the players fault.

Weeeeeee up to level 51 now, Act IV on NM, probably get another level or two before I fight Diablo.

Had really bad loot drops though, I have had quite a lot of blue and some yellow, but they have all got terrible stats, still got some level 27 bracers on as there are no good replacements even on the AH (unless I pay 2m)...

Literally no reason to not get an authenticator. Even if you feel your pc is 100% secure, they are totally free, even if you don't have a smartphone. Google WinBMA Windows Battle.net Authenticator and get that. (At work so can't link)

All those saying that they think blizzard/activision are covering it up, really? I mean, really? There are millions of people playing this game, and a percentage of those people will click on phishing links in emails, visit dodgy websites etc and their accounts are compromised. However, there has not been a single account that has an authenticator attached compromised. Says it all really.

ActIV on nightmare seems pretty hard :(
Either that or I don't have good enough items

I'm level 50 Demon Hunter and keep getting 1hit by elites

Better gear required ;)

Sitting on about 15k Health, 2.5-3k DPS, about 3000 armour (45% reduction in damage). Not finding it too difficult with my Monk up to now.

There's not been a single case of someone being able to prove they had an authenticator on their account before being hacked. Just lots of people mysteriously adding them after being hacked and whining that they don't work...

Blizzard have said that the session spoofing isn't even possible with the architecture D3 uses, and it's just scaremongering idiots making stuff up. I'd have thought someone would have caught them out by now if they were bluffing.

People are just getting phished. I wouldn't be suprised if half these people being "hacked" gave their details away in scams when desperately trying to get a beta key. Why do you say their passwords aren't being comprimised?

There is no problem with hacking. It's just fools not using an Authenticator. If you click on 'Real money AH' in the Auction house menu it tells you the ETA date for it though.

Also if you get hacked twice you get your account banned from the RMAH. But apart from that, as far as I'm aware it's all going ahead.

kd

Guess I should look at using an Authenticator...

The whole problem with hacking came from the shared session play whilst actually in the game and not the database being hacked.

People shouldn't be forced to pay extra for account security which should already be a No1 priority in protecting customers who have bought the product as is. I might be daft but I'm certainly not a fool for not splashing out extra cash on this authenticator that hasn't stopped the problem !! :p

Just use the free phone one? Authenticators are used world over for banks, company VPNs and other things because they work really well and are very secure.

Blizzard have given people a way to hugely secure their accounts in one of the best possible ways. And have offered a free way to do it with the phone authenticator. You think blizzard should give the physical authenticators away at cost to themselves as well?

Im a lvl 52 DH who has just started Hell, can anyone hook me up with a different build? Seems like I can no longer just run around dealing a **** load of damage as some mobs one hit me!

Is it worth spending all that money though when they are likely to send me a Homehub3 for free?

Depends how long you can cope with any internet ;)

Personally I have 4, one I brought, one rubbish one from Plusnet and two from 02 that they sent my brother (they have sent him about 5 in 6 months ).
