Have you done Act 3 xD

Act 2 is in no way 'close' to Act 3. I mean it's closer than the jump from Act 2 - Act 3, but it's still no where near the case of switch a few skills from offensive to defensive and you're fine as they suggest you should be...

Yes I have. I have a build I use on my Wizard for farming elite packs etc that I kept from Act 2 for 3, it merely lacks single target DPS so you feel it on bosses if your gear is bad. Plus I meant on the difficulty / gear requirement scale, if you were to draw a line with Act I at the start and Act III at the end, you wouldn't place Act II mid way, it would be at least 3 quarters of the way up.

When I first got to Inferno I had maybe 10-15k damage, Act I felt comfortable however, some douchey setup of elite packs could trip me up but whatever. I then had 20-25k damage, Act I was now silly to farm, even the bad packs weren't a problem because they would just go down so quick. Act II was still feeling near impossible, I felt like I was barely killing regular trash. So much more farming and AH use later I have 30-35k. Act II still feels bad, I'm starting to wonder if I could ever do it, after I've replaced all of my gear twice over and it's still a case of scraping through regular mobs and just getting felt on elite packs. But then a bit more gear, 40-45k and it now feels fine, trash is going straight down, elite packs are dying reasonably quickly so only the absolute worst are causing trouble, it's essentially feeling like Act I did when I had merely 10-15k damage. Act III sure, you notice that things are taking longer to kill but with 40-45k it doesn't feel massively bad, at just 50-55k It feels pretty ok to run through and again, now I'd say at that point, with just that minor increase in damage it's already comparable to 10-15k Act I. At 60k+ Act III is pretty much a cake walk, even the bad elite packs die too quick to cause that much bother, as there is no real difficulty ramp up from here every upgrade only makes the rest of the game feel easier and easier. Even those fun abilities that you had to write off for the longest time you can start playing with again just because you have that much damage that build starts not to matter a great deal.

If anyone needs anything crafting then let me know, I've maxed BS and jewel crafting out.
You'd need to bring me the pattern (If it's something non-standard) and the materials. I also have the Flawless Star Topaz pattern myself, so I can craft them too.

How much are those Topaz's to craft out of curiousity?

i've just being doing the math on jewelcrafting, having thought I could make a few quid from it, but the AHeconomy isnt supporting it right now due to the 15% commission. Here are the costs for emeralds (topazes are cheaper, basically half the gem cost)

1 Flawless = 1.6million + 81 Gems (~250k at 3100 each) +165 tomes of secrets (~51k) makes total cost =1.9 million

Current sell price = 2.2 million - 15% commission = 1.85 million = making a loss!

I can make Flawless Emeralds btw but will need mats + a donation coz its been an expensive experiment! :p

They will come down, but it will be a trivial amount, like from 100k -> 90k or something pointless.

No, they really won't.

The EXACT quote from the patch 1.0.3 design preview is

The gem combine costs for Perfect Square and above will remain unchanged.

Can't link as I'm in work but go look it up in the post on the Blizzard forums.

100k indeed as Spektor said

You do realise the 1.03 changes don't effect much over flawless squares don't you? Tier 2-8 is where the costs are decreasing majorly, 9+ will still be expensive.

This doesnt factor in all the subcombines required to get to that point. You need 81 of the highest level dropped gems to make 1 Flawless Star. Actual costs are in my post above (having just made 1, I know them to be accurate ;))

Ah ha, got ya. I see it now. Fun times that the bets gems will still cost 15mil each. I thought they would have dropped the costs a bit, but nope.

Is what I originally thought/hoped too, but nope! Not that bothered as it seems fair enough for the really high tier stuff to costs lots - up to flawless squares drop like candy anyway, if you want better you gotta pay!

Will be interesting to see how much they reduce levelling the blacksmith by if any - they didn't mention that at all in the patch preview. Mine is sitting at level 7 and I don't want to sink any more cash into it at the minute even though I have several rare patterns in my stash!

That 15% commission is killer for making any profit.
