What are benefits of playing hardcore mode please? ta

More of a challenge and it's great fun.

I love playing games on their hardest settings. The Witcher 2 was especially fun with Dark and Insane. Hard was too easy.

So here I played a normal character until Hell difficulty and then made this Hunter to try Hardcore.

well i wouldn't say 52k is stupidly high, but if you have all res with at least 50% damage reduction (i think thats around 320 resistance for each)

then you dont need that much i think...my barb is no where near lv 60, but my DH has around 53% damage reduction and i can last a few hits now at least on inferno, so for you it would be enough as well. try it :p

Ah but I am rocking 65K dps on my DH (without SS buff). Sure I die in one hit but hell I can kill things over 2X as fast, and I can generally complete a Cydaea/Azmodan run on Act 3 in around 30 minutes or so pending the number of champ packs I get (got 7 in a single run yesterday!). Also if I get bad attributes like damage reflect + extra hp, or invulnerable mobs it can take a bit longer.

Have you played Inferno beyond Act 1? I doubt your 300 res would help you live much longer in Act 2 onwards, you will still probably die in one hit!

Actually to do well in inferno Act II onwards on my barb I had to get like 700 all res and over 50K HP. Act I is a piece of cake compared to Act II. You need the added survivability more than the DPS.

Getting lot of Life on Hit will be a good idea though, even if it lowers your DPS a bit.

I know this will sound silly for most of you but I strongly thing that if anything at all has to be changed in inferno difficulties to close to gaps is not nerf act 2, 3 and 4 but make act1 more difficult because as it stands now it's way too easy.

You can finish act1 inferno with lvl50 gear without too much hassle and if you spend as low as 400-500k on gear you can afk in there.

Gear became so cheap now its ridiculous, can get 100+stat 50-60 all res items for 20-80k. Buy a couple of those and anything in inferno just deals no damage at all.

I wish I had frapsed the "LOL WTF" troll game with KD testing out stuff when we've been killing the Butcher, at start of fight he spawned the fire on us and guess what? Didnt even bother moving out of the fire, just took all his cleaver smacking, fire and charges head on. Didnt move an inch all fight just stood there holding left click.

It's inferno, its supposed to be the new ultra high difficulty not a damn extra 15hrs of play to finish it.

If they nerf the overall damage and mobs hp along with removing dmg increase in multiplayer this will just become **** easy.
Get 2 barbs or a monk and barb together and you can just reduce all incoming damage to nearly 0.

I've only gone through 1st boss act3 solo but when playing with Goates as duo barbs in act4 we did fine even tho my gear is just decent and nothing special.
Healing mantra, resistance passive + warcry resist increase, threatening shout and just LOL at inferno with 1200 resist monk when all mobs do 20% less dmg on top of that.

Get them to nerf current damage on top of that and act 3-4 will feel like going through act1 which I can currently do half naked and without using half of the skills.

Well thats Ghom killed on Inferno. The boss is a joke no matter what difficulty you play, although he did kill me this time (), mostly because I had never really noticed that the clouds of gas he left behind were extremely deadly (do they last longer on Inferno? They must do surely?). Wandered into it without paying attention, came back and whooped his ass.

On the walls, other than occasionally getting 1 shotted by Mongrels due to my own silly mistakes, the winged moloks were driving me insane. Why the hell did they put the checkpoint for the first Catapult so far back?! I must've died on it 10 times by being 1 shotted by the damn moloks ranged attack and had to run all the way back. Inside the Keep went quite smoothly actually. Bar the odd Soul Lasher that would appear out of nowhere and tongue whip me for a 1 shot kill. Most retarded part about it was the first one I saw was a pack of 3 champs who chased me around and somehow never landed a single hit on me, dodge never even came into play, then I ran back to where they spawned and a normal one came out of nowhere and 1 shots me ><

Depends how much hp you have. My DH is at 36k hp, 2500 armour (45% reduction) and 166 all res (36%) with just under 200 in physical (40%). I was mostly a 2 shot on act 2, now I tend to survive shots from some enemies but most of them 1 shot me by a mile.

o.o 36k hp, what's your DPS?

I am finding it hard to enjoy the game at the moment, i dont want to stoop to the stupid level of gold find maxing and wasting hours of my fun on a bunch of vases.

I just want some of these affixes fixed, especially invulnerable.

I dunno, I can never remember what it is because Sharpshooter messes with it. Around 25k? I do have fairly high dexterity so the only way I can increase my single hit damage now is crit damage and getting that without sacrificing other stats (and especially without sacrificing all res which I need also) is going to cost me an absolute fortune.

Was having a quick look at rings and pants. Rings are stupidly overpriced as usual. My merch ring has ~130 dex ~50 vit on it, ones with ~150 dex ~60 vit were going for 400k+. Getting anything with all res or crit damage on it was hopeless. Also have 130 dex on my pants and finding an all res piece without sacrificing dex is extremely expensive.

Been an interesting day here, was down to 70k at one point after a rather dangerous foray into the commodities market but after some hedging in the gems market, 3 x whimsey, a cydea/azmodan and act iv elite farm im back up to 7 million and to cap it off 5 mins before logging a string of ears dropped :D

Im actually finding act iv easier to farm than act 3, simply coz i find it really hard to make out projectiles in act 3 and i just get 1 shot :p also i can deal with oppressors and corrupted angels better than soul rippers and phasebeasts for some reason, although its all getting easier as the dps goes up (75k without SS now)

Feels like the drops in whimsey have been nerfed so gonna focus on act iv for a bit and see how that goes. I think the main thing is my mf indos gear sucks which means trash in whimsey drops very little, but seems to have less impact in the standard acts but could just be perception i guess

Seems the market in decent xbows has dried up, presumably coz all the good stuff is in stashes waiting for the rmah so the hunt for a better weapon goes on!

Shame they are gonna nerf inferno as it really is made a lot easier by gearing up but i kinda get the reason, not everyone has the tenacity to plug away at it when it seems to be impossible, and all the posts by people saying they are rolling through later acts with 12khp and 30kdps dont help when people read them and Wonder why they cant do the same. The vast majority of people dont have the skill or the ability to accept 100 deaths a night that that type of build requires.

How on earth did you make so much? I did 2 runs of cydea/azmodan and got nothing what-so-ever useful/sell-able. Whimsy may be good in 1.03 if rare are guaranteed from elite packs.

Luck of the draw I guess, sometimes I can do 2-3 runs of Cydaea/Azmodan and get a couple of mill out of it by selling the better items for whatever the going rate might be, sometimes I get nothing worthwhile either.

I did however find a nice xbow with 1176 DPS but it lacks a socket/+crit damage %, but was still better than my 1k dps bow of the time.

I'm up to around 68K dps now without SS, with SS it goes to 104k! Got a nice pair of 212 dex/12% movement boots for cheap as well from the AH which was awesome.

Still need some more upgrades, my rings especially, using the cheapy 71dex/15% ias rings, but a decent ring is really expensive.

Ran Whimsyshire about 10 times, best item I got was a 850 DPS 1 handed crossbow :/. Having no luck in Siegebreaker runs either, just terrible loot constantly like chest items with no sockets, gold pickup range, bonus health on globes, poison resistance and life on kill.

Are the guys who are saying this is hard played diablo 2 at high level? Uber tristram etc? Unless you had mega gear for that you used to get 1 shotted, when I was playing as a high lvl barb I used to have very high life leach and have to whirlwind mobs constantly to keep my health up.

Deadmau5 just posted this, i thought i'd share :D

Dude what

You dont need all res as a DH, you shouldn't really be taking hits.

Dex/All Res pieces are expensive because Monks want them, not DH's. Especially pieces that have all res + singular res, so monks can stack a single res and get double the benefit from one with everything.

I can tell you all res as a DH is a godsend. I now have ~250 res all ~300 physical res. Sure its expensive because as you mentioned anything with dex + all res will appeal to both monks and DH's so theres a bigger market on that type of gear.

With my res tho it really does make a difference if you do slightly slip up or get a LAG SPIKE ! you can take a hit or two with some res. I was running around with no res didnt see the point and its so easy to get one shotted. I hated having to res and run all the time. So I invested in some gear via AH. If you really narrow your search options down you can pick up some good deals. Just a matter of trolling the AH sadly OR asking friends see if they have anything you can get cheapish.

Yesterday I bought a pair of pants had ~150 dex (with 2 +34 gems in) 45 res and ~30 vit I paid 50k gold for them :D

edit:
That all said if you like the glass cannon approach then theres no point to res. But personally I hated dieing and especially with lag (possibly) being against you or just that slight misclick or an evil waller trapping you. Id rather be able to take two/three hits before dieing.

In Act II + Inferno? that res actually matters?
