The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

I think gamespy is a wee bit fussy with FS versions. You can't fly FS9 and FSX in the same session and it gets worse I believe. You can't fly vanilla FSX with some who's installed SP1 or SP2 and even SP1 and SP2 flyers can't fly together. Bit of a mare from what I gather. I can't remember my login and recover the password options simply tells me it can't connect to the gamespy servers.

Yes, Gamespy is fussy so make sure you're all speaking the same FSX.

VATSIM allows you to fly online with different versions.

There is a Jersey EGJJ mentoring session this Thursday on VATSIM:
Date: 14/06/2012
Time: 1830z - 2000z (1930L - 2100L)
ATC Positions: EGJJ_Z_APP

If we took advantage of this, you can do VFR Island Hopping between Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney or VFR circuits at Jersey or an IFR flight into EGJJ where APP would vector you onto the localizer and make better what we did last night.

You'll need a VATSIM account and some ATC lingo to get the best out of this.

If not, we can freestyle..

After you guys logged off, I tried it again and manged to land with auto pilot in a 900 series but I over shot the runway :p Not sure if a 900 is allowed to land at Jersey? It is quite a small runway. Or maybe I should get my brakes looked at :D

I'm up for that tomorrow night. Is that 19.30 UK time? As 18.30(can join later) is too early. That should be a good fun doing that.

I'd like to join in if i may. I have FSX SP2 and a gamespy acc but minimal nav knowledge. Will look into Vatsim.

Of course you can join, anybody welcome. I'm learning too and I know a few others are as well.

A 900 is pushing your luck into Jersey. We take 300's in to there, the closest to that of the Next Gen 73's is the 700. Is that modelled in the PMDG? I'd suggest a light load and around 3000kgs of fuel as a maximum.

I think with the PMDG you can change the brake discs to a better type in the FMC?

I'm going to try that myself tonight I think.. Which is the easiest airport to take off to head to Jersey?

it's 19.30 local time. if you're new to VATSIM, then you can fel free to listen in or share a cockpit via gamespy with me and then log onto VATSIM.

I'll be on mumble about 19.30.

Don't you hate it when you spend 15mins getting the FMC set up and then you accidentally press the hidden click spot for the TOGA on the MCP and end up crashing before you can turn it off and throttle back :o

I made it at jersey in the PMDG 900 NGX autoland. About a 3rd of the runway left. Used 1/3rd fuel setting and FULL payload.

I did have a Max breaking, flaps 40 (141kts) landing to help though...

I might have to try that....gz!

Excellent, see you at 19.30

Tried it again with 100% fuel and 100% payload. Didn't make it past the trees at the end of the runway at Guernsey, let alone onto the runway at Jersey :p

haha:D

Just flew Toulouse to Palma, nice flight, land on RW06L, takes you over the island and then you have to do a sharp turn back to the RW...watch out for the mountains

I used this route, http://www.vataware.com/flight.cfm?id=7991464 they used a Piaggio P180 Avanti II..

Steve.

We'll look to do a majority thing. If most have Gamespy accounts, we can set up our own fly-in. If we all have VATSIM accounts, then we can make use of their professional ATC there.

Minimal nav knowledge? The excellent 'Plan-G' software will give more than a head start with nav knowledge.

The gauntlet has been thrown... :D

I'm thinking if you manually land, you could start your flare 5 nm out, bleeding off enough speed before touchdown.

Ok..so join Vatsim and d/load and install the required software. Done everything to the letter. It says i should see FSinn in my FSX menu but i see nothing at all. Is there a tweak i've missed or something?

Installed FS Co-pilot first then FSInn and entered call sign and name.

Help please!

Thanks.

Steve.
