False claims of the "best"?

Why is it many people will claim that they have the best mother/father/son/daughter etc... when this is most likely not true?

Surely there can only be a single "best" of each member.
But the chances of someone having the "best" member are so slim, that is it necessary to assume these people are liars.

Furthermore, I have seen greeting cards with titles such as "Best Dad", "Best Son" etc... but what confuses me is that there are multiple cards of the same design. Surely if there is a card claiming a "best" member, then only a single card of each design should be produced? Otherwise it simply does not make sense.

I suppose the only exception is that two or more people are at equal levels of greatness. Then it is possible for both/all to be part of the "best".

You think too much, you sound angry at the world. Your happiness will come from within, not from trying to put others down.

I am the best TommyV of the OcUK forums.

Do you suffer from a lack of empathy? This seems like exactly the same problem you had with wishing people "Good Luck".

:o

Wow. Are you trying to claim that it is objective, rather than subjective?

Whilst we are on this subject, why do people say hello to each other? Isn't it so pointless? In fact what's the point of cooking for each other when we could just have nutrition drips which would be so much more efficient?

Sod it, I'm advocating for full on matrix scenario where we all are simply batteries in red goo. Who's with me?!

I vote for "Acceptible Dad, could do better" Father's day cards, "She's alright, but she can have a few too many wines and get embarrasing a little too often" Mother's day cards, and of course "Happy Birthday Son, hope you manage to pull your head out of your **** this year!".

Would make life more interesting.
