***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Can someone who is running Apex (pro) on their S3 please try adding a direct dial shortcut to one of their homescreens and seeing if it works?
No idea why but it just says "This activity cannot be launched" when i try it (and I'm now on my second S3 !!)

To be fair, he didn't say it wasn't, he just made a statement that he was surprised 3 hours screen on time was considered good off one charge.

If we were really being picky, we could tell him you could probably get 7 hours screen on time between charges, but it would be 7 hours total, 100% screen on time. :)

Early days for me, but finding it smooth and battery life good (using 4.1, then 4.2). Just installed 5.1 with siyahkernal as standard.

It gives you the options to add or remove the samsung bloatware before installing.

I'm going to give it a try ! thanks

The download is taking ages, the lack of mirrors is ****!

ICS theme via the kitchen I take it?

Why are people slating the battery life?

This phone is getting equal/better battery life than the HTC One S which is universally considered to have awesome battery life... (with a notably inferior screen too)

no idea... maybe they have come over from BB's / 3310's / other non smart phones? 4.5hr screen time on a full battery is ace though and I've also noticed the GPS is VERY easy on the battery too (in comparison to the GS2)

Yeah the radio based chips are new and more power efficient units from Intel so I'd expect the battery consumption using GPS to be a fair bit better :)

I don't think anyone is slating the battery life........ :p (apart from JonnyGLC :p)

And if you're referring to me as well (I think you are :p), it was only against skillegs usage as he said himself that he was being conservative and going by his usage notes, it was mainly video watching (best for battery) and very little web browsing (biggest killer), hardly a data/wifi connection for most of the time (again, this would consume a fair bit of battery) etc. and his battery life wasn't as good as mrk's, gmans and stoosh usage, which seemed much heavier and constantly had data/wifi connection and power saving mode disabled etc.

Hence why I asked him what is using the battery the most and said it wasn't that great (IMO).

It is very hard to say as to which phone (S/GS3) has the better battery life as I am a very heavy browser (main use) so that is mainly why my battery life isn't as good as the others (average for me is about 4 hours on screen time, where as others who have the S here are getting up to 5 hours on screen time). Also see people reporting that they can get up to 6 (even 7) hours on screen time with the S and a couple (with custom ROMs) up to 8 hours on screen time (that is with data/wifi connection etc. constantly on as well.) But it is to be expected considering the smaller screen and only qHD display, plus the S4 chip is more power efficient IIRC?

Only way to tell for sure as to which is better for battery life overall, is for someone who has the GS 3 and S and uses them exactly the same throughout the day etc. (*cough* stoosh *cough*...........:p :D)

Either way both are very impressive especially the GS 3 considering the screen and even more so when compared to the X :p lol.

Best battery life I have seen though is for the XL (excluding Razr), apparently it can get up to 6 hours on screen time quite easily
