can anyone give some advice for a wiz starting hell.

currently lvl 51.

not sure what signature spell to use.

currently using:

Magic missle - penetrating blast

disintegrate - chaos nexus

diamond skin - enduring skin

hydra - venom spit

blizzard - snowbound

mirror image - duplicates

passives:

glass cannon
prodigy
astral presence

i survive well with diamond skin and mirror image, means ive always got an escape opportunity.

main tactic is to blizzard enemy to slow then hydra and disintegrate till dead.

blizzard also helps me get some distance.

any advice ?

You need to work Energy Armour into that build. Sacrifice your mirror image for better survivability yourself. You probably spend most of your time attacking from distance anyway. Aside from that, nothing wrong with what you've got already.
 
Agh!

I'm on Belial Inferno.

I got him down to 15% and when those things come over the ground that explode I got caught in them and died.

I'm a barb so have to be in close range, please can someone explain the best way to avoid them? Is their safe spots anywhere?

which rune?

pinpoint barrier or energy tap?

Piercing Orb is a great signature if you can get used to the weird flight path of the bubbles, as they are 105% weapon damage to everything it hits and no other signature hits this hard whilst doing AoE. Blizzard and Disintegrate are nasty for eating your whole Arcane Power pool, I'd personally only one of them. Blizzard works great with Cold Blooded passive so I'd try to slot that in.

Teleport with Illusionist passive are also amazing escape options, so using that (maybe drop Prodigy if you are only going with Blizzard or Disintegrate and not both) and pick up Illustion in it's place, then you can drop either Mirror Image or Diamond skin since you won't need 3 escapes.
 
With my 55 wizard in Act 2 Hell I use:

Mouse 1: Magic Missile (Charged Blast)
Mouse 2: Blizzard (Frozen Solid)
Key 1: Diamond Skin (Crystal Shell)
Key 2: Mirror Image (Duplicates)
Key 3: Hydra (Venom Hydra)
Key 4: Energy Armour (Energy Tap)

Passives I think are Blur, Evocation, and definitely Glass Cannon. Could be wrong about these though, can't check just now.

Personally I don't think Enduring Skin is worth it with Diamond Skin. I use Mirror Image to protect myself from damage, and when that fails and I really need to use DS generally it's because I've been caught by a mob, and then the duration of DS won't matter as it'll break before it runs out anyway. Also I'd ditch Disintegrate for Energy Armour.
 
I'm a muppet, didn't notice you had both Blizzard and Disintegrate. Use only one, i prefer Blizzard using the rune that slows enemies down making it easier to run away whilst it and your Hydra slowly works down their health.
 
Just sold my first item on the RMAH, £5 buyout on an amulet :) will probably end up making back what I paid for the game so quite pleased.
 
Is game juddering a known issue with Diablo 3? Often I'll be running along and everything will stop for a couple of seconds before zooming along at double speed. Sometimes the whole game will pause for 5 seconds, update for 1 second, pause another 5 and so on. It's really frustrating and results in many tedious deaths. It's especially prevalent when moving between areas, but sometimes it doesn't happen at all.

Admittedly I've installed the game on a 7 year old 160Gb HDD as I'm out of space on my main drive, but no other games off this drive have a problem.

EDIT - I've altered graphics settings up and down without any effect. My system isn't the newest Q6600, Ati 5850 and 4Gb RAM, but it's more than adequate for Diablo 3

Its a known diablo 2 issue too. :p
