Are you a feminist?

I haven't read the thread as it is too long.
In response to the OP.
The one thing I hate is feminist women as they are really annoying.

I find it funny that women now retire at the same time as men and their car insurance is going the same way as ours. They want to be equal? They only wanted the good, not the bad.

One thing I would never do though is be a 'stay at home dad'. I am not saying women should stay at home, but a jobless man may as well squash his balls in a vice.

That would depend on whether the Man in question defines his masculinity by his job, and if he does then he has bigger problems than the "stay at home Dad" to be honest.......

who is this 'we'? my son loves princess stuff as much as he loves things like ben 10 and that. and both our sons like playing cooking and stuff. we don't tell them 'that's for girls' well we do, but if they still want it we wont stop them.

"We" in this case was society, though from the above it most definately includes yourself. :D

There is just toys and parents are able to buy whatever they want for children. What you are saying is that the government should force toy sellers to not target the sale of toys to specific genders or sort them in such a way as to have girls toys together and boys toys together. If a toy maker finds that mixing all the toys is more effective way to sell toys then that person is free to do that.

Read my post again. Please point out where I said I wanted the government to force toy sellers to not target specific genders. I didn't, I just think it is a bit sad that we continue to perpetuate it. Society will change over time as more and more women are primary breadwinners and old stereotypes fade, it will just take a long time.

I don't see your point  I was saying that women should have cheaper insurance (as should older people) and younger people and males should have higher as they cost insurance companies more. which you have pretty much backed up.

Old peoples lack of judgement and reactional skills cause more accidents than women.

My point is the insurance companies discriminated against men so that they could charge the majority of drivers higher insurance premiums

Thing is Feminism isn't after equality. It is after unequal treatment of women to push them further. Feminism is about positive discrimination which is just as bad as any other form of discrimination and it **** me off that it is still pushed so heavily. I believe in equality and all should be treat equally, not some more equal than others.

Well it's pretty impossible as you cannot effect someones in built prejudices but I do not think positive discrimination in any way helps the situation.

Are prejudices really built in though or are they taught? If they are taught, then yes, we can effect them. I will certainly be trying to bring my daughter up to be the person she wants to be rather than the woman she wants to be.

Sexist pig you should be disgusted.

Lol so it's sexist to be complimentary to a female plasterer? should I expect a female grafter to be a size 18 and have tattoo's and no teeth?

How is it sexist to be shocked that a hot women is doing a manual labour jobs, and not gracing the pages of <insert man's magazine> wearing no clothes?

Femanists burned their bras right? why is that such a bad thing? other than the sagginess of course

I am all for equal rights but it works both ways, we get a bum deal quite often in the name of "chivalry". Women also seem to find incredibly sexist quotes romantic :D

My PA is on maternity, she is taking 3 !!!!! YEARS leave and I bet you she will pop out another baby after that.

Thats the last time I employ a women in Czech.

Yup. This is one thing which women have brought upon themselves in the UK constantly campaigning for shed loads of time off post natal.

My step dad is an employer and has always made a point of never employing women, except for one who is nearly 50 and who's kids have already up and left home. As a small (8 employees) company which is very very specialist he can't afford to have people taking six months off here, six months off there and having to bring in and train temps in the meantime.

Not to mention days off when little johnny has a tummy ache at school etc. - although that is nothing to do with gender equality, it is part of the reasoning behind the male workforce.

If I ever become an employer I imagine I'll take a similar view, unless I open some kind of kitchen, that is :p

It's pretty obvious why the Iceland adverts are targeted at women.

Men are far better chefs and so will buy quality ingredients and cook decent food, rather than the frozen junk and ready meals that Iceland sell.

(may not be 100% serious :p)

In actual seriousness, I do all the shopping, and all the cooking in our family. My partner can't cook for toffee and can barely write a shopping list. Not that there's anything wrong with that, she has skills in other areas (behave yourselves!), but all of these sexist adverts are a load of rubbish (she's gotten used to me yelling at the TV whenever that P&G one comes on...)

As others have already stated, if those adverts discriminated against women in the same way they do about men, there would be uproar about it!

Although I guess you could just take that as being women get offended far more easily than men XD

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egalitarianism is better.

Feminism had it's place, now both genders are being subjected to various pressures to behave in certain ways - some good, some bad.

Women get treated like play-things, men get shown no compassion, women get side-lined in some areas, men do in others - the list goes on.

Feminism has its place... in the kitchen...

Any man who hits a woman is a pure coward. I kinda like it when they hit me anyway, gives you a chance to make it all sexual.

**** being a coward, when my ex-wife, who was just as tall and almost as strong as me, came at me with a craving knife fully intending to plunge it into my chest i put her down like the dog she deserved. Police took my statement and didn't do anything because they agreed it was reasonable force.

Because you're suggesting that a good looking woman is nothing but a sexual object to be fapped over by men?

or were they just shocked that 99% of the time it would have been a guy ;) im pretty sure most people that called them out would have expected a man to of arrived, and been shocked when it was a lady, no matter how feminist they are
