Ah then you'll have to install Kies which installs the USB driver package![]()
seems odd as it has been working as a plug and play device up until today?
what i dont understand is that even if installing kies works, will i have to do this to every pc i use my phone on from now on?
it seems rather bizarre that the phone has had plug and play storage accessability since the day i had it but now it suddenly wont.
the fact it is doing it on many seperate computers running a variety of OS means it surely has to be the handset?
have you turned on usb debugging?
LOL Robbie, bias! You do know that when in video mode the iPhone crops the image? I can't understand why you've got one in video and one in photo when you're trying to make a comparison?
yup, made no difference. still wont connect or recognise. installing keis now to see if it makes any difference. if not, then the phone may have to go back.

just installed keis
tried to install the device drivers for the phone and it is still coming up with driver installation failures
errors showing cdc and mtp still not installed.
not really something I would expect from a £500 smartphone.
Is there any way to connect the S3 to a smart tv that isn't Samsung without any additional hardware?
I don't think it's the phone, more your Windows and some driver confusion/corruption perhaps.
I assume you've tried it in another PC? I had the same problem on my S2 months ago once but that randomly fixed itself some days later.
Any way to make the S3 show as removable storage on the PC?
I use SyncbackPro to sync various things (FTP etc) and one of them is to sync my media folders (music, video, photos) between PC and phone. Syncback doesn't see the S3 when it is in MTP or Camera mode as it shows as a device as opposed to a removable storage drive
Could do it on my Desire no probs....
Download and install the usb drivers separately, you can get them on xda I believe in a tools package.Well I have unlimited systems and four s3s including mine to test it out with.
If it works in the other phones but not mine then it has to be my phone. I will just have to send it back for a replacement if the other phones work as it eliminates it being a driver problem.
I just don't see this being the pc. It wouldn't be happening on different computers.
The official samsung image can't mount as USB but you could mount it as an SMB share over wifi using an app if that would be an OK substitution? There's tons of apps for this on the market. For fear of it being lost:
CSA - If you're near a shop I'd go in and talk to them about it, shops tend to be better at this type of thing.
plug phone into my work pc this morning
worked first time.
