thinking of getting this,

loved MMO's and im taking a liking the the game, havent ever played Diablo before,

i see peopel are selling gear ect if they get lucky, if i started a character today do you have a chance of getting rare items drop from the time you start ?

or is it like an MMO where say the top end gear will only be found at the end of a hard instance and not going to be found killing trash mobs at level 8 ?

thanks

Stuff that sells for 'big' money comes at the end game, just like any MMO.

I'd say if you're looking at this to make any kind of money, you're too late as the time to level/gear up is too much, unless you can dump a bunch of cash to buy the kit you need to farm when you get to 60.

Since the patch, Act 4 hell seems to be a lot easier for me with my Wizard. I'm trying to build up some money to get better gear for Inferno. Elites just kill me easy on that.

I'm on about ~9k health, ~21k DPS (with magic weapon), ~3200 armour(with energy armour), and about ~190 in all resists.

Does anyone know what should I look at increasing first?

I have about 1.4 millon to spend, should I get lots of cheaper items to improve stats or just get one good massivly expensive item at a time?
Post your set up here. Feel free to add me in game from the OcUK database and I can guide you on my wizard setup.

Can vouch, I currently living in poverty eating beans on toast for each meal.

But atleast I have the best DPS weapon money can buy and can extend my e-peen even more within my social circle.

All I need is my laptop, my bed, and my Demon Hunter.

Beans on toast? Pah, my gear must be superior to yours! After kitting my DH in the best gear money can buy I no longer have the luxury of beans and toast! Nor can I afford the microwave or the toaster so really its cold beans or bread for every meal.

Price check anyone?

It's very rare to find attack speed/crit damage bonus on a rare neck together let alone int with it too and damage. The crit damage bonus scales with dps extremely good and is a very valuable stat at high end gear level.

it depends on gear, what is yours like and where in inferno are you? i'm in act 1 and struggle to kill most of the elite packs (but the skeleton king was easy) as my gear is not so great. the good thing is though, the new drop rates mean that you have a reasonable chance of getting gear upgrades in act3 and 4 in hell (apart from the ilvl 63 stuff) and it is so easy, to prepare for act 1.

i ran through from the fields after the catapult quest to just after the first fight with the giant spider with 5 NV stacks and it was raining rares. I made a fair bit of gold (maybe 100k or so including buying more stash space) via pick ups and vendoring the blues, found an awesome 2 handed 700dps axe off siegebreaker (stood toe-to-toe with) which increased my dps by nearly 2k and had another couple of higher ilvl stuff drop but it wasn't an upgrade.

might be worth trying that if you're in act 1, or farm earlier, easier acts if you are further through it. i posted a build a few pages back that works well, what are you using atm?

healing mantra, 1000fists, blind, serenity, heal, need to kite quite a lot from time to time...
and might start farming again to get more money...
did not knew that they 'fixed' drop rate...

lol item like this I would sell to vendor ;D

hate AH for stupid prices :/

Yeah due to stupid prices currently i would say it's 5m otherwise about 1-2m max but then again it is an extremely good dps amulet for a wd/wiz who has a very good weapon for a start.

I seen some gloves selling 30m yet aren't much better than my current(just a bit more int/vita) which cost me 2m.

Well the IAS isn't the highest but I think that crit damage is pretty damn high. The int is more of a nice extra. Either way IAS and Crit Dmg together is pretty sought after.

This wasn't my experience. I done a siegebreaker run and the highest itemlevel I got was 57. Nothing even remotely resembling an upgrade. That's with 5 NV and about 80% MF gear. I feel like I'm in a rather difficult/boring situation with my barb. I can either farm earlier acts which I don't find to be a particularly enjoyable experience or kill about 1/5 elite packs in act 1 inferno at a slight financial loss.

The point of the patch was to push people to farm the act rather than starting from a certain chapter. I did a full act 1 run yesterday and ended up with about 5 i63's, several 62's/61's.. It's varied, but I recommend running the full act.

EDIT - Oh and to clarify: I don't run an MF set, just 5 NV, that's all. I think I have like 12% base MF.

you could try this one, worked (and works) for me so far:

I had the same issues until I saw a build someone posted on the official forums - it was an amazing moment!

skills:
crippling wave - concussion (left mb)
sweeping wind - balde storm (right mb)
breath of heaven - blazing wrath
serentity - peaceful repose
inner sanctuary - circle of protection
mantra of evasion - hard target

with resolve, seize the initiative and one with everything.

so you get mob damage reduction and aoe damage with the spirit builder, sweeping wind is awesome if you can keep it up, it melts white mobs. as an example i fought the first boss in act 4 hell with it on toe to toe, sweeping wind took out all the shadow things before they could touch me. granted it's pretty useless if you have to kite but it's great for loads of mobs.

you get the damage buff with BoH and blazing wrath, 3 second immunity and a heal with serentity. inner sanctuary is a funny one, sometimes useful, most times not. i have swapped it out for 7 sided strike and mystic ally but i've always gone back. mantra of evasion increases dodge, plus if you spam it you get an extra dodge change which can prove useful.

that set up got me through hell with ease tbh with pretty **** gear. admittedly now inferno is a different story but i'm not using the AH.

oh, re the siegebreaker run - as the someone else said I ran loads of the act rather than just the boss. most of the stuff i got was vendor trash true, but the axe made up for the time it took. i'll try again tonight and see how it goes.

That was my understanding of the changes.

To stop runs of specific chapters and encourage players to keep the NV and carry on hunting.

/edit

Directly contradictory to this however Blizz wipes the NV after an act :(
