***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Foxconn CEO: iPhone 5 Beats Galaxy S III
iPhone 5 will "put Samsung's Galaxy S III to shame," according to Foxconn CEO Terry Gou.

"Gou suggested that consumers around the world should not buy the Samsung Galaxy S III. Gou went so far as to say consumers should wait for the iPhone 5"

Says the man who has a rival product to sell.......

I have no doubt that it will probably have better spec.In fact, i would be shocked if it didnt seen as it is coming out late this year so probably 6 months later. It probably wont have as big a screen though, won't have a sd card slot (and the 64gb versions will be way too expensive) and will run IOS. Thats the reason i didnt wait.

Just to say, one thing i love so far about this phone ( amongst many others!) is smart stay. Such a useful feature.

Lack of USB Mass Storage is no bother at all really. I actually find Samba to be a lot better because you can access content on the phone with any device that supports network access, which is the majority of modern AV equipment anyway :p

Makes my weekly backups wire free either way when using Wireless-N. I have access to both Internal and External storage spaces (mapped as network drives) and use FreeFileSync to sync PC to Phone over wireless.

What is all this about no usb mass storage. When i plug my S3 into my PC it shows both the phones memory and SD card memory storage?

Or have i missed the point completely? Is it just when certain SD cards are used?

USB Mass storage is where both storage areas get mapped by Windows to dedicated drives. MTP is what the S3 only has, it's seen as a media device, not assigned drive letters and thus cannot be seen by software that look at a normal drive structure when browsing. You can only drag drop files manually, for example.

With Samba it's the same as Mass Storage once mapped:

Ah i see. Thanks.

I think the new iPhone wont have anything new or amazing to bring to the game, iOS6 is quiet boring and just added a lot of missing features that is already on the s3. Cant really see what they can do, get a bigger screen maybe, new form factor. Improve the GPU. TBH the mobile game is really slowing down in terms of hardware these days and nothing new well suprise you. For me at least its more the OS and iOS right now needs a huge revamp, its getting very boring and feel rather old and dated.

igot white headphones as well with my pebble blue. I thought it was strange as well but not that bothered to be honest.

i use other headphones and never use stock headphones. their quality is not top-notch anyway. i just feel a bit odd for a dark color phone that comes with a soft color accesorry.

anyway, i love this phone much much more than nexus which i now believe it is merely an interim product like Winodows ME back in those days.

Anyone used the phone feature on this yet? Is it any good?

I ordered the white one but now wish I ordered the blue one as the white case makes looking at the screen hard for me. I am just too used to black/dark case on devices.

Might ask if I can change it to blue at carphone warhouse. I ordered it to be collected at store and picking it up today. Think they'll do a straight swap?

Manufacturer of iPhone 5 says iPhone 5 is going to be best shocker! You read it here first!
Thanks Sunny007 - insightful stuff.

Indeed, it even says so in the article:

Well, for starters, his company is probably making it. This gives him an obvious bias. Of course he'd prefer that consumers wait to buy the phone his company is making rather than the device of a competitor.

:o

Affordable Mobiles.

It's down as £21.50 a month but £6 of that is the 500MB internet bolt on which you can cancel straight away by contacting o2 once you receive your handset. When I got my Galaxy Note previously, it came with a £3 internet bolt on (100MB) and I cancelled it on day 1, and was never charged a penny for it. I have already spoken to an o2 advisor who confirmed it can be cancelled straight away and I have the convo saved just incase.

So, you are paying £15.50 a month for 24 months, plus £90 upfront. The cashback is £40 through quidco and takes around 2-3 months.

S3 for £422 = bargain, especially since you can pay it off as quick or slowly as you choose with no interest. It is absolutely not worth forking out £500 when these sorts of offers are available. BTW mine has been shipped, I ordered it this afternoon. :) They have the white in stock but no blue for another month.

Found it, it's in their top deals section.

I'm currently using PowerAmp for music, is there anything better these days? Anything as slick with album browsing similar to what the iphone does in landscape mode?

Unfortunately there's nothing as 'slick' as the iPod software on the iPhone.

The main alternatives (like PowerAmp) are all very good but they feel a bit 'meshed together' in comparison.

Having said that I haven't tried all of the music players available.

Try DoubleTwist, it doesn't have CoverFlow like the iOS music player but it's a bit more polished than the others.

By the way, anyone knows how to check the basic configurations like memory size, cpu speed...etc?

My 64gb Sandisk was a bit iffy when I first plugged it in. After installing drivers/KIES it's working alright.

Have you got KIES and the drivers installed?

Why does Kies make any difference? An sd card should just work.

Had trouble myself with sandisk 64gb cards & I had kies installed.
