Not sure I explained myself properly.

If UTD sign a striker, say Lewandowski then keep Chico/Welbeck on the bench and have Lewandowski/Rooney start. If Rooney gets injured, we still have Lewandowski to rely on.

If we don't have Lewandowski to rely on then its all upto Welbeck or Chico to score all the goals. Thats just not good enough for UTD. Its like if RVP got injured, theres no one there to fill his role. You might get a few goals out of the bench strikers but not 20+ a season. Thats why they have signed Podolski and Giroud.

What makes you think either Hernandez or Welbeck would be happy with not only being backups but backups to the backup? Way to develop young talent....... by never actually playing them.

If Rooney gets a knock and misses several games, we will suffer. Berbatov was brillaint when Rooney was out in the 2010/2011 season.
.

BOL - he was awful in every game apart from the 3 I think he scored in (while Rooney was out)

The only reason he got the golden boot that season was the 5 he scored against one team (Blackburn I think) and two other hatricks - ie 1/2 his total in THREE games

Dont let the goals scored stats fool you, he was NOWHERE for majority of that season

looks like Vertoghen is finally signing for spurs all over the dutch press that the fee is agreed just loyalty payments etc for Ajax to sort with the player. De Boer describes him as like Vermalen but better.

I for one and happy with this news

I still can't get my head round players signing for clubs with no manager.

Good signing though.

They are not backups for backup. I am saying play two experienced strikers and have Chico/Welbeck on the bench.

I don't think Welbeck and Chico are the type of players to throw hissy fits for not playing like the Man City strikers that sit on the bench.

If we get rid of Berba, Owen and Macheda, we are coming up short on the striker front.

Made myself clear?

I agree that the majority of his goals came in a few games but he still did his part when Rooney was missing. Chico spread his goals out which is promising but doesn't add much else to the game. Berba could atleast create chances. Chico plays on the shoulder and doesn't really get stuck in.

Good signing though.

Its the club that signs him, not the manager. As long as he gets a bump in his wages, why should he worry.

I am aware, i wasn't asking for an explanation.

Id just like to think that the likes of Hazard who claim to worry about how much they will play and in what position would at least want these worries eased by the manager first rather than signing the £170k a week contract regardless.

My issue wasn't with you not making yourself clear, I know exactly what you're saying, it's what you're saying I've got the problem with.

Olivier Giroud is on the verge of completing his move to Arsenal for €15m, and the Montpellier president has wished him well.

Will be really interesting to see how he develops - and Ansenal in general if they sign M'Villa as well (the latter I really like, although I havent seen him in many matches)

Rumours Fulham have been 'given permission' to talk to Ramsey. Imagine its a year or two year loan, doubt we could afford him with a contract that runs into 2016.

Dzeko, Tevez and Santa Cruz when he was there. Balotelli too at one point.
Really?
Got any actual quotes?

anyway back OT.

Roman looks to have been snapped up by Barca :(, hopefully we have a clause for when he becomes the new Iniesta :p

on the incoming front there is nothing happening and nothing will until after the Euros and Mancini comes back off holiday.

You was aware that Tevez went off AWOL playing Golf for three months of the season after throwing a 'Hissy Fit' at a Champions League wasn't you. The same Carlos Tevez who Mancini said would never play for the club again. The same Carlos Tevez who said he would never play for City again.

You know the same Carlos Tevez who most Citeh fans said they would never support, same Carlos Tevez who you were all ready for burning his shirt on a number of occasions or am I getting confused with another Carlos Tevez who threw a 'Hissy Fit'

He's 25, not sure he'll develop much at all, if we keep RVP I can't see him even playing properly for the next year(assuming we randomly and stupidly get RVP to stay and he walks on a free in a year). M'villa, not seen enough to say he's **** or great, but with Wilshire being fantastic, Arteta being the current best midfielder and Song being undroppable in Wenger's eyes I'm not sure which player he's going to drop for M'villa, which more than anything just suggests to me we won't get him. In reality anyone would be an improvement on Song and freeing up Arteta for a more attacking role would be great for him and us. A lot hinges on if Wilshire will play this year. He's one of our most important players right now, he's brilliant and versatile, great defensively and offensively. Him and Arteta in the team give us the flexibility to go ultra defensive, ultra attacking or anything inbetween with both players good in either role.

I just wish we were spending money on positions that would dramatically improve the team overall rather than the bench. Financially the most important thing we can do now is ditch all the rubbish, Djourou, Rosicky, Song, Diaby, Santos, Squillaci, Mertesacker, Gervinho, Walcott and Denilson(still two years on his contract afaik).

Why we gave Rosicky an extension on his contract I have no clue, 8 months of the season awful, 3 good games, new contract and screwing us for the next couple years again. I wonder how much more cash we'd have total if Diaby, Denilson, Djourou never got contract extensions and Walcott, Gervinho, Santos, Mertesacker, Squillaci had simply never been bought :(

thats never gonna happen tho as nigh on all those players are considered 1st team members, weather people like it or not.

hopefully they'll be careful with wilshire and not rush him back to quickly or he'll be out for another season.
