Anyone able to give me a valuation on this, first thing that has dropped that I thought might be worth something.... For some reason I can't take screenshots in game, I either get a grey screen or just my windows background.

Rare Quiver for Demon Hunter

+61 Strength
+114 Vitality
Attack Speed increased by 13%
Melee attacks take 309 damage per hit
Increased chance to crit by 5.5%
1.5% chance to slow on hit
Ignores durability loss.

Not a great deal mate, due to the lack of dex. If that was dex instead of str then yeah it would be worth a fair bit more.

This is the problem I have with it at the moment too. After an initial rage at the changes in 1.0.3 I decided to give it 1 more shot and re-geared my DH with a lot more resist and vitality. I'm at the point where I can kill Act 3 packs relatively comfortably but it takes too long to down them and they really have nerfed the droprates in Act 3 so far as I can tell.

All this encourages bottom feeding as I can just run around the maps in Act 1 ignoring anything that isnt an elite and MF gear swapping to guarantee masses of rares for 0 risk. Sure, most of them are rubbish but the sheer volume means I will hit paydirt more often than chancing it in Act 3.

You should be rewarded for playing at higher difficulties but at the moment (for me anyway) its just not worth the concentration levels and apm needed to kite/stutterstep a pack for 2-3 mins when I can faceroll tank any Act 1 pack dead in 10-15 seconds and potentially get exactly the same loot.

Pretty much what im doing, can do an act1 clear from lorics manor and get around 50-60 rares, maybe 1-2 of them are sellable but its far more "rewarding" than slogging it out in act3 or 4. Act1 was is so incredibly easy for me now i can literally just mow through everything.

half the fun of D2 was remaking characters for different builds

You mean to find out 99% of them were useless unless you spent hours pouring over skill information to try and find out which skills actually scaled well and wouldn't be defeated the instant an immune to 'element' enemy came along? You could decide 'Oh I want to make a build centered around Frost Nova because that would be cool', but 1 look at the skill info would tell you the damage the skill inflicts isn't even viable in Act I Normal never mind Act I Hell.

Difference with D3 is you can either create a new character with such a build in mind as you progress and gear up or you can just change your skills when you want and try it out in Hell/Inferno.

They really should let you skip between acts without losing NV stacks. You would then be able to 5 NV stack in Act I and at least get some better drops from Act 3/4 after having the stacks.

Definitely a criticism for act 3 to 4. The first boss has no room for champs before it and the second boss has room for 1 or 2 which isn't going to get you anything good. There just isn't any point doing it when you get the same tier loot from act 3.

Also means there is no point carrying on once you defeat the Butcher or Belial (if you happen to think farming Kulle and Belial is rewarding ><).

I'm in a weird state of limbo, and I need your help....

I'm a casual player about 10-15hours a week and im currently doing act 1 runs to butcher on inferno. Im buying and selling on AH, upgrading my gear very slowly and saving up some gold, currently 2mil in the bank. But recently I've been finding myself a little hesitant to double click that diablo 3 icon on my desktop....

The problem is this, its just all getting a little boring.

For me it seems this is just a never ending cycle of grinding and upgrading your gear... IT NEVER ENDS!!......fine if you like grinding but its becoming very dull, doing the same level time after time.

I know what your thinking, your thinking "well just dont play it anymore, why are you even posting this!" The trouble is that I keep going back and I have no idea why!!?

Help me!!

Because like a lot of us, you know the game is good but is essentially completely flawed/broken. There's still the potential to make this a game worth continuing playing and you/we hope so much but right now there isn't much reason to bother.

Sorry I think it's sort of worthless, no +max disc, low crit chance (can get 8.5%), no socket, no dex, mid tier IAS. These are the kind of things you want on a quiver.

Sorry still a bit of a noob at this game, when do I want a quiver vs having a 2 handed cbow or 2 singler handers? Every time I see a quicker it's like +10/11% attack speed and a few other bits and bobs, whereas to equip it I'd have to give up my +30 vit + 60 dex 1 hander so it never seems worth it

Is there a good website to explain all this stuff? All the ones I've found either try to sell me some crappy book or keep throwing me between D3 and D2 info!

In general it's widely considered that a quiver with any bow (1 hand or otherwise) will give you better DPS. At low levels you may find the quivers aren't going to be fantastic but you should still see a DPS increase with one.

This is because even with 2 1 hand bows they just alternate attacks between the two, all you get from having two 1 hand bows is a 15% attack speed increase, which a quiver can also give you + lots of other great stats.

Not sure on sites sorry, but I found quiver better!

Not necessarily true about the dw vs 1h+quiver, based on my current gear and stats using 1h+quiver gives me 40473.39 DPS if I were to some how obtain an identical weapon as my main hand so I could dual wield, my DPS would rise to 44738.04 DPS.

Its roughly a 10% DPS increase for DW with identical weapons.

So yes DW is higher DPS than 1h+offhand, but at a cost, its significantly dearer to buy a two weapons than 1 weapon and a quiver and the chances of finding identical weapons are pretty slim.

Depends how good the quiver as well I assume, high dex + crit + good IAS will give you a DPS boost over using a 1H i reckon, plus 2h bows/xbows should go higher on the DPS scale.

OK thanks for the responses. Think the issue I have is that I've found 2 vs good (bear in mind I'm only level 35/36) 1h cbows with high dex and vit, whereas I've not found any decent quivers that give more than the basic 10% atk speed increase.

Difference with D3 is you can either create a new character with such a build in mind as you progress and gear up or you can just change your skills when you want and try it out in Hell/Inferno.

The difference is, that if you wanted to try something new in D2, you had to re-roll. This in itself added huge replayability, even if you never took the new creation that far. I think I had about 4 assassins, more sorc's, at least 3 barbs one of which was a mid 70's throw barb pk'er.

There's just no need for any alts in D3, buy a new set of gear off the AH & change your skills is about as complicated as it gets. I know it's easy, and it's great to be able to adapt, but it just means you only ever need one of each chtr. Unless you do HC too.

This is pretty much going to kill my replayability long term, but hey I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

The only thing stopping you creating a new character to play through with a different build is your refusal to do so as you deem it 'pointless'.
