I don't buy games from OCUK so would rather not have any threads about game deals at all.

I agree with this... oh wait, no I don't. The deals thread covers everything, from boxed retail from brick and mortar stores, to steam and every other digital distributor

A sub forum would be great.

To the people voting for a sub forum: Are you voting that just so you don't have to see the posts on the gaming forum or do you genuinely think it would make it easier for you to notice new deals?

I voted sub forum so I wouldn't see threads about general gaming amongst the deals. So it's not that far off, a place to go for general gaming discussion and a place for price drops and the like, it just seems to me like it would be a lot easier than sifting through a giant thread that gets spammed up with "omg good price, thanks bro" or having to eagle eye for a deal between all the stuff in a very busy general forum.

I voted for sub forum.

Sub forum would be good. It will keep all the deals together and well stop the deals getting lost amongst all the other gaming threads. Also, it would allow you to preform a search on the subforum for "Max Payne" for example, in an attempt to find specific deals.

But that's a bit pointless, as you'll just throw up a load of deals that aren't on anymore. The beauty of the daily deals thread is that you know only the last few entries are ever valid, because most deals are one or two days only.

If the rules are "NO DUPLICATE THREADS" which would be common sesne then I do not see how this would ever be a problem.

Game discussion/chit chat would be against the rules which would be much easier to manage in a subforum than a thread.

Common Sense wouldn't try to fix something that ain't broke ;)

Yes, most probably. But I would have thought that a little common sense would tell you that the posts made a while a go would more than likely contain expired deals. You can just choose to read the most recent posts selectively.

Consolidated thread like we have now.

We don't need another subforum, and in all honesty I highly doubt it will happen anyway.

Yeah, it didn't strike me as the most likely thing to be approved even if we all demanded it.

Tbh I really don't get the current obsession with sub forums. Diluting the conversation with little or no gain seemingly.

This.

Most of us would never look at the sub forum. The daily deal thread is easy to find - if it ain't broke, don't fix it ;)

Much in the same way many do not look in the Daily Deal thread and would rather they were just in the main forum.

Can we not just have deals in the main forum with them being quoted/copied into the Daily Thread for those who want it?

Gimpy the issue with that is that the main forum will be a polluted mess of posts on each bargain found, not sure anyone wants that.

Take today - 11 Game Deals posted in the Daily thread - That would have been 11 new threads all over the forum

and the daily thread in just over a year has had 300k odd views - must work ok ?
