Proximity is purely a bonus. As long as you've got thermal and can spin the turret quite quick you don't really need it.
 
Is it just me or is the support class ****

ive been playing it a lot during the double xp weekend so i could get my service stars and i was not impressed

the problem is i always seemed to lose 1vs1 against assault the majority of the time sometimes when i get the drop on them

now im no noob (maybe playing support i am) and my accuracy is pretty decent it just seems it takes a load more hits to take someone down with a LMG than it does with a assault rifle

and the funny thing is sometimes when im playing assault i seem to get one shotted by support but when i use the same gun as support it takes a lot more than one hit to take people down i just dont get it

main guns ive been using is the L86A2 and the M27 didn't like the PKP at all and i do did use the M249 a lot at first

anyone got any ideas maybe i need the heavy barrel?
 
The weapon balance in this game is horrible, full stop.

Shotguns that don't work. Sniper rifles taking 2+ shots to kill. Machine guns that are less powerful than assault rifles. Pistols which kill faster than most other weapons at close range.

All courtesy of Alan 'Derp' Kertz who couldn't balance the game if it came with a set of calibrated scales.

Right, after downloading 16GB over skys slowest broadband, rather than using the discs this time, I'm still getting this fault, can anyone help a guy out?

£39.99 to have access to a battlelog forum signature. What is free with any other forum out there, comes with a price from EA. Can you go any lower?

What are you on about?

You do know weapon damage is based on the calibre of the bullet yes?

Use a 5.56 LMG, it will cause the same damage as a 5.56 assault rifle.

User a 7.62 LMG.... you get the picture.

If you have a problem with low weapon damage, play hardcore!!!

Got 329 kills with it so I know how the gun works.

It seem though that from time to time the gun just doesn't want to hit the taget when you are dead on with your aim. Sometimes i can fire 5 zoomed bullets and i know they are on target and just don't get a hitmark.

I have similar kills (361 between scoped ~150 and iron sights ~200) and get frustrated with it plenty as of late. :D
 
This whole premium thing has completely put me off BF 3 and DICE/EA for good now. Complete joke tbph, IMO it has actually got worse than what it is like with COD (not the gameplay, although it is heading that way as well......)

Really. If it followed that logic then a shotgun slug should be devestating at close range. And yet seemingly it takes 2+ shots to kill.

I don't have an issue with low weapon damage, quite the opposite, I want to see weapons play their intended roles. People spaming assault rifles from the hip and killing quicker than a shotgun, is stupid.
