What software would be best to recover my data. I know it should be ok but god I'm shaking like a leaf and can't think.
Please some good reliable software to get this data back and you guys would be life savers. LITERALLY!. So much of my work is on this drive!!

Thanks SO much in advance to anybody that can help!

Also sorry if this is the wrong section of the forums. Not sure. So worried right now I had no time to think...

EDIT: Currently trying Recuva like mention below. Currently 10 Mins remaining (98%) :(. Wish me luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're using something like Recuva then I think you're going to need another drive to which you can copy the files it finds.

If you copy them back to the same drive then you'll be overwriting files you're trying to recover.

Hmmm well I've started the scan of the drive. I have a 1TB backup drive (Yes meaning to get a bigger one but the rise in prices put me off). Will have to just backup the most important and just re download the ISO's and stuff that's not as important I guess

He can just recover them to desktop or another folder or another drive.

Only recover data from 2TB drive. Don't write anything to the drive you are recovering from as it changes/overwrites what you are trying to recover! Doing so will mean more lost data.

I'm sure you know that, but just to be sure. ;)

I think we already have that covered.

Anywhere other than the drive he's recovering from.

Yeh somebody just mentioned that. Thankfully they did as I probably would have done it. Safe to say I'm not thinking straight as I'm currently bricking it. God I hope this works XD

And the worst thing is all my Episodes of Modern Family are on that drive and after a long week sitting down today and watching them I had looked forward to all week. Guess not XD

I know your pain... at least part of it. Never formatted over but have lost data because I didn't backup often enough.

I was trying to make one of my USB sticks bootable and using CMD. Accidentally selected drive 1 instead of 3. Instantly **** my self and turned of the PC off as It seamed to be doing it in the background.

Safe to say I will be double checking all my actions in CMD from now on. You would have reckoned I would have learned after locking my self out of a previous machine with it XD.

Desktop will be on that drive if it is the windows drive. It still uses drive space!
Nope not my Windows drive luckily. Learnt to keep stuff on separate drive after a similar incident a while back.

Got 240GB SSD as OS/Games/Programs Then a 500GB as my Documents and stuff. Then the 2TB for media such as TV Shows/Some backups/College backup/Some other bits

Does anybody know if Recuva will keep any kind of file structure. God it will be a bitch if it all comes out in one massive dump of files :(?

EDIT: Never mind. Found a guide on how to use the software and it shows a restore folder structure so it's all good :D
