look not trying to go off topic but a few impressive games is all cleverly has had so what are you basing you whole argument around? to me cleverly has just been as oversold.

i can't remember who said it but they said it best, 'cleverly gets better with every game he doesn't play's..

Lets be honest 12 months ago you said there was nothing Cleverley could do that N'Zogbia couldn't so you're obviously not best placed to voice your opinion on him tbh.

Alas in terms of Cleverley v Anderson one has had 10* very impressive games in 1 season and the other has had around 10* very impressive games in 5, not hard to see who we should be more pinning more hope on at this stage is it not?

* give or take

Walcott's contract ends next season as well... shame for arsenal to see a top player making his displeasure known so publicly, or has money turned rvp into another adebayor/nasri?

I don't blame him. He wants to win things. As it stands, with Arsenal he is very unlikely to do so. It was the same with Torres and moving to Chelsea.

It's a career move and I daresay many people would jump at the chance for what would be a 'promotion' even though it left behind old work colleagues or even a workplace.

As far as loyalty goes, well, this is football, not a Samurai honor code. It's a business. It's about glory. You play football because you want to play, and you want to win. Not because you want to struggle in a relatively subpar team just because you've been there for a while (I use subpar in relative terms when you look at RVP as one of the best BPL strikers, when compared with the team he is in and the amount of things they have won in the past few years).

RvP not renewing his Arsenal contract.

EDIT:

Sucks for the Arsenal fans (massive lolz from the rest of our perspectives). Arsenal must surely have known about this for some time though, hence the signing of that French lad.

Unless he's going to take a step down in quality (Juventus or Bayern) RVP must surely be Man City bound.....

Arsenal have Gervinho, Giroud, Podolski and park up front, as well as Wilshere coming back. RVP has one injury free season and scores a few goals and now he's off good riddance!

Scores a few goals. HAHAHAHAHA

The only reason you finished where you did was because of him and didn't get embarrassed in basically every game against the other "top 4" teams.

Don't count on Giroud and Podolski either. There is no guarantee that they can come in and score goals.

How many teams would be unhappy going into next season with Giroud and Podolski as their two main strikers? Not many, I'd wager... especially as selling RVP would balance the cost of signing those two. Who have better striking options? Manyoo/Citeh? Arguably Newcastle, at a stretch (as Ba didn't do anything in the second half of the season, and Cissé was only there for half a season... even if he looks ridic!)?
Who has better options? Quite a few teams actually, neither of those have played a minutes worth of Premiership football, Podolski I would question whether he will ever be a regular goal scorer for Arsenal, Giroud, impossible to say whether he will take to the english game.

That's not to say they both suck or Arsenal should be unhappy with them, but lets allow them to at least play a few games before we say Arsenal have a strikeforce to match anyone :p.

BBC:
Wenger and Gazidis have every right to issue a strong statement in right of reply to Van Persie's words. They paint Arsenal in a poor light.

Quite true really. He's worded it in such a way that they'll have to sell him now.

He could just be trying to get Arsenal to invest more in the squad or to improve his contract offer by threatening to leave.

He's well on his way to becoming an Arsenal legend, even after countless trophy wins not many players achieve that level of status with their club. Trophy winners are easily forgotten about, club legends are talked about decades after retiring. I don't think he can walk away that easily.

So how long before Wilshire wants out then? If rumours are to be believed we enquired about him last summer as it is....

Podolski has never lived up to his potential, decent player but has yet to turn into a great, or even way above average goal scorer. Maybe he will at Arsenal, I'm not expecting it though.

I couldn't see that full quote, his site isn't loading. :o

Doesn't change much though without details.

Yeah his site is bollixed right now, however..

This is an update for the fans about my current situation. I have kept quiet all this time out of respect and loyalty for the club and as agreed with Mr. Gazidis and Mr. Wenger, but since there is so much speculation in the media, I think it is fair for you guys to know what’s really going on at the moment.

As announced earlier this year I had a meeting with the Boss and Mr. Gazidis after the season. This was a meeting about the club’s future strategy and their policy. Financial terms or a contract have not been discussed, since that is not my priority at all.

I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days. Out of my huge respect for Mr. Wenger, the players and the fans I don’t want to go into any details, but unfortunately in this meeting it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.

I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions.

I love the club and the fans, no matter what happens. I have grown up and became a man during my time with Arsenal FC. Everybody at the club and the fans have always supported me over the years and I have always given my all (and more) on and off the pitch. I am very proud of being part of this fantastic club for the last 8 years. As soon as Mr. Gazidis is back from his 2-week holiday in America further meetings will follow and I will update you if and when there are more developments.

Nor me, he's like Klose great for country but flopped at club level when at a bigger clu....... well Bayern :p

I cant imagine Podolski being great next season, not seen enough of the French lad but he could easily be another Gervinho/Chamakh as well.

Surprised by the lack of loyalty shown by RVP, thought he was better than that. Guess footballers really are all the same :(

EDIT: I'd love to run the best striker in the PL poll again now as well ;)

Is 8 years (most of them now trophyless) not enough? He's 29, it's basically now or never, can you really blame him for thinking it might not be a great idea to commit another 4 years to Arsenal if he really wants to win something of significance? None of us like our best players wanting to leave our club, I know that, but it's like we want our players to give everything they have until we decide they're no longer good enough, then we're ok with them going.

When you lose your best players and the reasons are clear, blame the club for not doing enough to compete. Disappointed as I was, that was the view I took on the Rooney affair.

People talking about £30m for RvP are living in cuckoo land, Arsenal have a history of underselling top players and a player of his age with one year on his contract won't fetch that much. Even Fabregas, who was much younger with many more years on his contract only fetched £29-33m.

They did well to get £25m for Nasri and that was only due to MC's massive budget; when it comes to RvP if rumours are true then the bidding was started at £8m by Juventus. Realistically he will probably end up moving for something in the Thierry Henry range (£16.1m).

What concerns me is he gives the impression that Arsenal have known about this since mid-May, yet here we are in July and yet a sale hasn't been done yet. He returned early from Euro2012, and we're paying him £90k/week to do nothing all summer. Get him sold so we aren't hemmoraging money on his wages and have an opportunity to bring in new players before the season, we don't want a repeat of the Fabregas/Nasri fiasco of last year.

Would be interesting to know what "many aspects" he disagrees with in terms of the club strategy, but I suspect that will never come to light.

In terms of destination, Spurs could use a striker but I suspect he'll have a bit more class than to go there. Italy seems a good choice perhaps.

Is 8 years (most of them now trophyless) not enough?

Well 6 and a half of them have been spent on the treatment table tbf :p

He's given Arsenal a very good last 18 months and I can totally see 'his' point of view of wanting to look back at his career and have some medals to show for it but it's still not much loyalty shown to The Arsenal who if they were another club would have chopped him in years ago because of his fitness record.
