Yup, updated Stickmount by @ChainfireXDA works great. Playing from USB stick in Vplayer!

:)

He has said you need the MicroUSB that is rounded not square like the nokia ones. There around £2 on the auction site.

Just need the actual tablet now!

Fantastic, absolutely no need for a 16GB now :)

I still can't believe how much of a rip off that extra 8GB is when a PNY tiny 32GB USB stick costs £8.99.

I have ordered the 16gb just because having the storage built in is nice also.

It is great news for the guys who have ordered either though.

IIRC the Nexus 7 comes pre rooted? so it is just a case of buying the cable and then installing the app.

If anyone wants a link to the cable he recommends it is on the auction site (Item number: 220960816331). If that is not allowed mods i will remove.
He did recommend one at 99p also but that was in Hong Kong so up to you if you want to save the 85p! :p

I note your enquiry regarding the purchase of the Asus - Google Nexus 7 Tablet PC -16GB.

I have tried to contact you by phone. I confirm that the order for the Nexus 7 tablet does not come a £15.00 Play store credit or a similar discount.

Is that communication with Google or an alternative retailer, I'm already P,O about the UK not getting the free mag subscriptions and shows.

Absolutely agree, the 8GB is discounted as an entry level model, it is not that the 16GB model is sold at a premium (as most like to look at it).

Yup,

“When it gets sold through the Play store, there’s no margin,” Rubin said. “It just basically gets (sold) through.”

Certainly not trying to rip you off, they probably won't ever sell the 8Gb through retail since they'd expect a bit of profit themselves making it a total loss..

Will you be able to copy from nexus to usb then and visa versa? I dont want to have to watch with the usb plugged in if I can help it.

It's all relative. Compared to the 8GB, the 16GB is a massive rip off.

It's only £20 difference for those who bought the 16gb via Currys. I initially ordered the 8GB but that leaves literally next to no room for any media after you're left with about 5gb storage. I don't want to have to carry an OTG cable and USB stick around everywhere. The only time I can really see myself needing more than 16gb is on a flight where we might want a mixture of movies for the family.

So for me, the £20 extra was well worth it.

The 8gb is £159, i ordered the 16gb from a retailer for £189. £30 for an extra 8gb isn't cheap but imo it is ok.
I know having ordered from a retailer i have no gurantee of getting one nor getting it any time soon but i am in no rush for it.

Yes. The original test of the usb resulted in being able to copy to the nexus and watch but not watch direct from the usb.
With the updated app (Stickmount) you can now do both :)

Personally i don't mind the adaptor, will just tape it to the back of my case or something. Good to have both options of course!

I am chuffed with that, will keep it on me and just move what I want over for the day :D
