Manhunt After Police Officer Shot Dead in Clacton-on-Sea

He's reported to be unknown to the police till that incident.
Sounds like a deraged hermit, with a little level of social interaction.

Then why does 'Essex Police' have a mugshot of him then??

How do you know it's a mugshot and not his passport photo?

I don't to be fair, I guess Essex Police could have obtained that photo and passed it onto the media hence the Essex Police id on it.
That'll teach me to jump to conclusions! lol

Sounds from that Telegraph report that he was a bit unhinged and paranoid!
But it does beg the question to why a 'supposed' law abiding citizen who has no record with police owns an illegal handgun ?!?!?!

He would only have a record if he had been nicked before and for someone to live 60 odd years without being arrested would constitute being fairly law abiding.

Anyone could have an illegal gun in their house and people would be none the wiser unless it was used or taken out in public.

As for how this man ended up with a handgun who knows could have been a gun than a parent had from the war etc... Just because someone has a gun down not mean they are a crime lord/gangster.

Edit: I'm in no way advocating illegal gun ownership!

The first point can be argued; there are so many master criminals out there who hasn't got a single line on their rap sheet their entire lives. The second point can be true but most of the time it's not, especially when it comes to handguns.

It's incredibly easy to flout the law if you're careful; it's something stupid like 99% of crimes go unpunished. I've personally lost count of the number of minor and major crimes I've committed throughout my life and I'm on the good spectrum of law & order.

I totally agree with you I want being clear obviously, what I ment was you appear to be and can be classed by people who don't know you as being law abiding if you never get caught ;)

From what I read it was a long running dispute with the neighbour below him, the off duty police officer came to help and got shot dead for his troubles :-(
The question now is why did he have guns as he was clearly unhinged

I'll wait for the facts to come out. Can't trust anything that comes from the Police, press or rumours this early on as recent high profile cases have shown.
