Between diminishing returns on resistances/armour and gaining a lower proportion of your health back from healing potions, health globes and life steal/on hit it really isn't a simple answer. The only class that greatly benefits from more hp over more res is barbarian because a number of his skills restore hp based on %age of max health like Revenge.

yeah i can see how high resistance would greatly benefit life on hit gear. It's like active tanking in EVE.

Apart from that and the health globes thing i'm not seeing the huge benefit of resist all over vitality

But thats the thing, there are no complete healing spells in Diablo (other than healing wells) it all gets healed in small chunks. You basically have to make sure that healing > incoming damage and the safest way to do this is mitigate as much damage as possible, then your total health pool becomes less relevant.

Having 100khp and no res is useless when mob hits you for 70k and you have no way to refill that many hitpoints before the next hit comes along and kills you.

Now I am confused. I just stack All resist and vit either way and life on hit and health globes. Can't go wrong that way ?

Apparently latest patch has reduce the cost of repairs but if you die it still lose 10% durability but normal usage now has been reduced since latest patch, have not tried it yet though.

If you die more than twice in a row then you might as well quit and try early in game because it will end up being a gold negative session, ie cost you more to play in repairs than you get from gold pickup and item sales.

The Vit vs Resist thing is all based on how fast you can regain the health you have lost.

It is a lot easier to regain a small amount of health than a large amount, as a result high resist + some form of active regen is more efficient than a large health pool and the same regen.

Basically without resists you will end up taking more damage than you can get back.

There's an interesting Monk build that works by ignoring Vit and having massive resists all life per second, basically regenerating more of your health per second than you can possible take damage.

Lowered my DPS from 40 to 30k, and Dexterity from 1800 to under 1700, but upped my HP from 11k to 27k with around 300 Res All now. Much more enjoyable now as I can survive the occasional hit, Smoke Screen away and use Shadow Power to heal back up again.

Repairs in the game inherently inhibit progression, the cost > gold income by a large margin.

I also find that despite having good gear, unless your in the top 1% you wont be "farming" act3/4 without issues, and unfortunately because of the games economy getting into that 1% requires a ridiculous amount of gold (100's of millions).

I've hit a brick wall with my monk, I can do ACT3 fine, I've killed Diablo with ease but my progression gear wise has stopped. I'm at 36k hp, 34k dps, 740 ish AR but ACT3 still results in enough deaths to make it pointless.

I can go back to act1/2 and steam roll over them in a desperate attempt at getting 1 sellable item, but as upgrades for me are well in excess of 20m+ a pop, it would have to be a godly item. Which are as likely to drop as being struck by lightening twice, on the same spot, while wearing a tutu and singing bohemian rhapsody.

Yes repairs are overly expensive

30k for 30 mins of inferno act2 play lol

I don't have a problem with high repair costs, I do have a problem with it driving undergeared players into town, or lingering on the edge of the battle not contributing in any way when the going gets tough. Then they hop back in for the final minute hoping for an upgrade. It's lame, especially since MF is shared.

Blizzard should address this but they won't because it caters the casual player.

Commodities like Essense won't sell on the RMAH, not at the prices you can list them at.

Lowest is 0.25p each!

By comparison £1 can buy you 100,000 gold which is enough to buy 500-1000 essence! Without Gold trading, the diablo economy is fubar!
