I don't trust that liquid pro stuff after using it once, left a big stain on my cpu and cooler. Would stick to some niormal high performance paste rather than the liquid pro stuff..
 
No probs m8, it does stain a bit as I found out. But I aint gona be removing the cpu for a long time to be honest ..

Sounds like good stuff for applying underneath the lid! May give this a go!

Shame i chucked my remaining liquid pro in the bin after what it did lol.


I remember it being quite runny.. any chance of it running off and going under the socket onto the board etc?

You put too much on, that's why it ran, you only need half a rice grain for under the lid maybe even less, if you put too much on just use a small bit of kitchen roll and remove it in one direction each time till it looks flat. Try not to get any on the pcb area around the chip as its a bitch to remove...

It never ran for me, it just left a damn good mess all over my cpu and all over my cooler base. Will consider doing this but for now my temps are cool all under water and running 4.5.
 
I have a feeling it wasnt a scenario any of the script writers imagined and that they may have interpreted IHS as intel heastsink rather than meaning integrated.
 
Once again proving the technical skill and knowledge of the Intel reps in general, so the next time someone 'confirms' max vcore (in this case a lot of them quote max 'vid' which is no where near being safe 24/7) or max memory voltage etc.. remember it just someone reading from a spec sheet that you or i could get as well.
The real guys who designed the chips and worked on teams etc.. who know roughly what would be safe will probably never divulge that information.
 
Would everyone recommend Coollabs Liquid Pro? I have Gelid OC Extreme and MX4 lying around, would it be worth it with?

Also does the new TIM hold the IHS back on if you take the CPU out again? Thinking about resale value.
 
liquid pro on the die and in between cpu cooler

can use mx4 inbetween the cooler if you want but best results would be with the pro

and no it wont hold the ihs down,best to just say its a delidded chip,the retention bracket clamps everything in place when using it
