Since this issue has been mentioned by others I'll chime in. I wouldn't have said anything as it's not particularly offensive, but usually I don't like it unless it's a very short item. Aside from poor forum etiquette it is a
breach of copyright and should be regarded no differently than copying and pasting a book or uploading a pirate game or film.
I believe short quotes are allowed by copyright law, with a link or credit to the source, but the short quote shouldn't copy or summarise all of the key points and should be more of a headline - the original article must not be devalued so that anyone reading a quote would have an incentive to seek the original.
I must confess to some hypocrisy here as in the past I have quoted short articles in full or overly summarised all of the main points, but it is wrong and usually forum rules are against posting pirate or material in breach of copyright.
What I find slightly odd about cm1179's quotes is that they're in italics rather than in a quote box, even though the quote tags button is on the same line as the italics tags button. cm1179, you nonconformist rebel
