I mean with the one I have now having a buzzy ear piece and it's my luck get a replacement with even more problems.

My s3 is dead! No sign of life in it at all. Unplugged it from the dock last night fully charged before bed and this morning it's dead! Won't power on at all, not even into recovery or download mode.

Won't charge either, although the screen and battery become extremely hot when it's plugged in which makes me think it has a hardware fault.

Flashed to the latest omega yesterday evening(8.1?) and flashed francos r10 kernel as well and everything was seemingly fine. Hoping it isn't one of those that's borked things though. Wouldn't it still power on if it was only software?

I've only had the phone for just under a month so hoping Orange will sort it out sharpish as I've gave my s2 away already.

I've figured out I can use lock screen widgets, but does anyone know of anyway of making the volume rocker into a skip track button?

You think Orange will replace the phone after rooting and flashing a non-sanctioned ROM and Kernel and you send them the phone lIke that? :confused:

This, Rooting and flashing voids any warranty iirc so he'd be extremely lucky to get anything out of orange. However, as the phone is dead, I guess they have no way to verify whether he has rooted it so he probably will get away with it.

Probably a kernel fault if anything. Kernel controls voltages, speeds and cores and it's been known even with Siyah's BETA builds of past for phones to SOD/Overheat when simply idle etc.

Stick to stock kernels if you go custom ROM root. Most have no issues, but some do. Risk worth taking? I don't think so.

Samsung white S3 for £330 with 12 months warranty, and unlocked. Ill be coming over from a bb 8900 which I used for 3 years !

Worth it?

Also can I change the front/back facia to a blue pebble in future ?

Do it! Even if you don't want it I imagine you could flog it on for a nice profit but I've just gone from a BB 9700 and I'm very happy.
No Idea on the colour change though.

You can change the front but its an expensive and tricky job. You need to buy a complete digitizer, which will set you back £150.

does apps2sd work ? seen a few post say it does,nt work but sure i have seen post on here sonewhere that said it worked.

AFAIK it doesn't work and its not a problem or bug, just the way that Samsung designed the phone. It stems from a time when internal memory in phones was very small, but now with large storage available on the phone itself it isn't really needed any more.
IIRC some apps will store resources on the SD card anyway.
