Saints apparently have agreed a 2.5m deal for Nathan Clyne from palace to avoid a tribunal, could be good if he plays better than he did in both games against us...

However Spurs are believed to have come to an agreement whereby the 28-year-old will take home around £100,000-per-week, a sum that will be significantly bolstered by add-ons.

City are believed to have accepted a fee of around £6 million for the striker having paid around £24 million to secure his services from Arsenal in 2009.

to get a player like adebayor to take a £70k p/w cut is good work. i assume we've given him a hefty signing on fee. thanks city.

Good player and a good price if the rumours come true. A mate who watches Palace quite a lot rates him highly so hopefully his perfomances against us were just a blip.

Yeah it seems a good price glad we're dealing with palace properly and avoiding a tribunal too. I hope he's as good as he's rated to be and that it was just lambert deliberately giving him problems against us.

Just waiting to see what we do about the gk and cb positions.

Hes still on a large wage for his talents. Why didn't tottenham try to get Berbatov back on the cheap instead.

Now he has a contract sorted he'll stop making any effort. Wouldn't expect much from Ade at all this season.

i'd be lying if i said i wasn't a little dubious but his £100k p/w can be boosted with bonuses if he scores, assists etc so hopefully his motivation will be good. i'd have berbatov back too, not quite sure if he's still a united player?

shame players need incentives to perform to their best.

All players (particularly forwards) will have performance related bonuses.

.

i know this but adebayor's is higher than average i would think (what with him taking a £70k p/w pay cut) i still think it's a little ridiculous tbh. a player should want to score and give 100% no matter what, out of respect for the privelaged position they are in.

Sao Paulo vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes has revealed that Manchester United and Real Madrid have both made offers for star player Lucas.

Speculation over the 19-year-old's future has intensified in recent days after the player admitted that he may leave Brazil before 2014, unlike Selecao teammate Neymar.

Inter has long been linked with Lucas, and the gifted attacker has publicly declared that he would jump at the chance to join the Italian giant.

However, Jesus Lopes claims that he has not yet heard from the Nerazzurri, but indicated that the Red Devils and the Spanish champions have already launched offers for the player.

"I can say that we have not yet received any official offer from Inter for Lucas, nor have we received any information about any proposal from them," he told FCInternews.it.

"With regards to the offers from Manchester United and Real Madrid, we are studying them internally. We cannot say anything else for obvious reasons.

"Everyone knows that there is a release clause of 80 million euros for all those who want to sign Lucas."

Assuming the above is true, we're interested then. I could see him picking us over Inter, but not Real Madrid...

Not so much when he's being paid £100k too much in the first place!

He will try in approximately a third of the games, literally not resemble a football in another third of games and in the other third he might move a bit if he fancies it

Him taking a pay cut doesn't mean he's going to be getting bigger bonuses than usual from Spurs

On his supposed pay cut; first of all, it wouldn't be a surprise if City end up giving him a pay off to make up for some (if not all) of his pay cut but crucially, he's only got 2 years left on his City contract and Spurs are likely to give him a 4, if not 5 year contract. A guarantee of £100k per week for the next 4-5 years could very easily be seen as a better deal than hanging around at City for a couple of years and not knowing what you might be able to demand after that.

Despite what others have said, I'm not convinced that money is his motivation. He just strikes me as a moody **** - a poor mans Drogba.

edit: And Borini to Liverpool looks all but done. He's been pictured at melwood having his medical.

I read that Chelsea wanted to keep him but he wouldn't sign a new deal.

I believe he was offered a 1 year deal but he wanted more & we weren't prepared to give him one as he was quite low down the pecking order and unlikely to get much game time
Can't blame him for wanting to play more and moving on though and Rodgers obviously saw something in him.
You should've just stuck with Ngog though I reckon.

Adebayor shouldn't be on £100,000 a week as a basic wage, he's far too hot and cold.

On an unrelated note as far as I know Walcott is also after 100K a week and that seems to be one of the main stumbling blocks in him signing a new deal. I hope we tell him to **** off, if that was what van Persie was getting then what exactly does Walcott do to think he deserves to be in the same wage bracket as our best forward?
