***** The Official Galaxy Nexus Thread *****

Google Now works fine here, I type most of my questions in. Voice is gimmicky and probably always will be.

If I do that and use Google UK as the search I get the card with no picture.

If I use Google.com I get the picture, but if I ask the weather I get Washington.

Frustrating.

Mine does this as well, I've just set everything back to English UK, I never used voice search or input before, so I doubt I'll start now.

I dont even know what you just said.
Can you paraphrase?
As im not even sure what you mean "card with no picture" and "use Google.com I get the picture"?

OK so in the settings you have 2 main options the first is language, which I have set to English US.

Within privacy and accounts you can select google.com or your local google to be used for the search.

If I select UK the answer looks like this

If I select .com the answer looks like this but it does not work if you ask a question regarding weather.

Interesting. I'll be patient though, UK always seems second in line for new services/functionality. I doubt it'll be long before Google Now/voice search works just as well in UK.

Really considering getting a Nexus as an upgrade over my Desire HD, kinda sick of how long it takes for custom versions of android to be updated etc, has anyone else done a similar upgrade and how much of an upgrade is it?

I upgraded from an HTC Desire and my answer would be: do it! :D

You can find it for under £300 now from grey import sites, which is a good deal considering its the most up-to-date phone in software terms.

Is anyone else having issues with LED notifications with Handcent since the JB update? All of my LED notifications are working except for new SMS. Tried fiddling with the settings but no luck.

I had a slight problem with handcent, first SMS received from my mate should give a blue LED, it didn't do any LED. It gave the SMS tone and indication on screen. I checked the setting and it said blue selected, so I choose another colour then selected back to blue again and all been good since. I think it just gets itself into a bit of a pickle at times.

Ok, get you now:
I just changed the search to Google.com and the pics show up, and and the weather still appears to work. Im gonna reboot incase its cached...

Still works...

Anyway, I was just reading a run down of the 4.1 changes and features, and this caught my eye:

Disable background data usage on certain Wi-Fi SSIDs by designating them as mobile hotspots.
Android now automatically detects when one Jelly Bean device is tethered to another's WiFi hotspot, and intelligently enables or disables background data usage on the SSID.

Could come in handy.

Is anyone else having signal problems since the update? I barely get any at all now, where I used to get good signal.

The speaker on the phone is also making a pop sound after its played a sound, and makes a faint hiss when in use. Not sure if it did this before or not, probably did and I've just noticed it.

Tried that still not working.

Do you let Handcent control the LED, or have you got something like Liteflow doing it?

Just come across an annoying bug with JB. Every now and then the phone thinks its charging, even though its not!

The battery screen says its discharging, but the notification icon and the status on the lock screen thinks its charging!

Very odd.

##EDIT##
Emergency over, i think! :-p

Googled about, turns out either one of two things happen, either A) the port gets broken from using non-standard chargers (due to some minor size issues) or B) theres **** on the connectors.

Scraped a few blobs of dust out the connector with a precision screwdriver, and touch wood, appears to be fine again now! Phew!
Just rebooting now to see if it does it again on boot...

Does anyone else's Galaxy Nexus disconnect its PC connection if you wiggle the USB connector up and down?
Just noticed it with mine....connector seems fine, not loose, and its not major, only when i wiggle it myself or it knocks on something...
