*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

I did ask them that yesterday, they straight up said their was no other way of doing the warranty process. The guy I spoke to even asked another colleague and he had the same answer. Seems strange.

For someone who has said he will not be buying one, you don't half seem to be spending a lot of time worrying about them :)

Are you understanding wrong? I don't own a credit card, I have never. I just have a debit card.

I set aside a spare £200 of my own cash to buy this tablet. I don't always have spare £200's to set aside, so if my tab ever did need to go back to Google I could well be screwed.

Amazon do the same with the Kindle, I bought one as a present last year and it arrived with a smashed screen. They sent a new one which arrived the following day, holding £110 on my credit card. Excellent service and a life saver. The alternative was sending the damaged unit back first, waiting for them to inspect and replace. I imagine the Google warranty service has something similar, they can't bar you from warranty if you can't afford it tbh

If I was to purchase one from a high street store though, would my warranty be with the store its self or Asus/Google?

Might be a better alternative for me personally to wait for a store to get stock locally so I can get a straight exchange if I did get any issues.

Google Wallet transaction details have remained unchanged since the 13th, hoping it changes tomorrow as rumoured and shipping email comes in!

I'm actually looking forward to this quite a lot even though I originally didn't intend to get one.

Watching the Verge review of it last night amped me up somewhat. They said it's not just a brilliant tablet for the price, it's a brilliant tablet, period.

Looking around that certainly seems to be the case.

Roll on Thursday!

I've not seen any mention of battery life though, anyone got info on this?

About 8hrs of fiddling with just about everything, gaming, movie, streaming etc well chuffed with it and compared to the Eken T10 I sent back to Futeko it trounces it, in just about everyway apart from size. If in doubt just buy one! :D

8 hours of continuous usage is rather good and that includes gaming too!

I'm actually most excited about Draw Something though, finally be able to draw black lines around coloured objects without going over the lines!

You could have got a stylus pen for £20 rather than a tablet for £200 Mrk! ;)

I have the official Samsung Stylus and it's quite rubbish as are the cheaper ones too :p

Can't beat a bigger screen for this kind of stuff.

That, or a GNote with pressure sensitive stylish.

Just gave local HMV a call, the Nexus 7 are on custom order only. If I went up and ordered one today they said it should arrive on the 19th. If a fault arises I would be eligible for a refund but probably not a replacement because they wont have other stock.

The batch HMV will get should hopefully be the ones without the screen bonding issue, I've read about and it seems it's only the very first set of pre-orders that are affected.

Thanks

If you are really that worried about getting a faulty unit, then why don't you just wait a while before you buy one? Put you're mind at rest man!

Sounds like a credit card might be handy for you, if only for this one purpose, never use it never incur interest, if you pick the right one you may even get free gadget insurance from simply owning it.

Thursday ??? Nooooo, I need it on Wednesday as I'm busy on Thursday night and going away to the inlaws for the weekend on friday night and they don't have wifi. If it arrives on Thursday I'll either have to have a sneaky play with it on Friday at work, or wait until Sunday evening.

*gets down in knees* oh gods of posting and packing, please get my nexus 7 to me on Wednesday. I need to play with the new shiny shiny as soon as possible...
