Well I finalled dinged level 60 on Friday and then steamrolled pretty much straight through Act 1 Inferno without any real problems. Act 2 is admittedly more of a challenge. Stupid mosquito things!
My monk is actually a pretty capable tank it turns out. My DPS isn't great but if I can get a team where the others are Demon Hunters or Wizards (which seems to be most of the time) I can generally go tie up the enemy for long enough for them to lay down some serious damage.
If it's against an elite, I tend to charge it head on then
- Immediately pop Serenity with Ascension (4 seconds invulnerable)
- When that's up hit Inner Sanctum with Safe Haven (5 seconds of solid recovery)
- When that's up let my health drop then hit Breath of Heaven with Penitent Flame (so I can exit fast if necessary)
- Finally drop Seven Sided Strike for another second or two of invulnerability then high tail it out of there.
I can tie up most elites for a good 20 or so seconds and get out of there relatively neutral on health and spirit compared to when I went in. By the time I get out its only usually a couple of seconds or so until Serenity is recharged and I can begin the process again.
If I get stuck penitent flame will usually get me out of there or I can use a health potion if needed. Admittedly it does go wrong (particularly against enemies with chains or wallers) but it seems like a decent enough strategy so far. I must have just got some decent defensive gear almost by accident.
