*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Delightfully having received an email at 3am that my order had shipped and that I had been pgraded to next day delivery, TNT turned up at 8am with my tablet.

Have left it at home charging while I am at work but I presume the next day delivery upgrade is Google apology for shocking logistics until today.

For a tenner I would have expected next day as standard.

So it seems like I'm stuck, I can risk cancelling and trying a high street store (work 5 mins away from oxford street) or hang on to it and hope google process their orders faster. All other online retailers now seem to have wildly fluctuating arrival dates.

I don't know about 10". The N7 is in a unique position right now and that is due to its size and performance it's heralded as excellent because it can fit almost anywhere<>do almost anything and not be in the face of others out in public.

It’s unique because of its price making it affordable for the masses. Two months down the line you will probably want something better. As to size, it’s just a gloried smartphone.

You should try a 10" as it really is a pleasure to use. I've had the original 7" Tab and yes it was portable but that missing screen space does just makes it a gloried smartphone.

Having an SGS3/GN really does put it halfway between the phone and a proper tablet. So for me another gadget that will gather dust. I’ll wait for a bigger one as a replacement for my 10.1.

Stoke on Trent to East Yorkshire...mmmm...if Tom gets a faulty unit I should be able to hear the scream from here!

Just about mate. It sucks because stock seems to be hard to get so if I did want an exchange I'd have to wait 4 weeks which by then my grace period with currys ended.

True dat.

Meh me grumbling about Google or praising them will go down to how good the tablet is.

Google's UK logistics screwed up royally and one hopes they will have learned or heads having rolled. I would expect future device sales from play store to be much improved.

That part of the experience will not sway me from the product itself. I brave poor customer service with numerous products I use (and enjoy great service from others). If the nexus 7 is that good the service won't bother me.

Havjng said that, Google will have missed an opportunity here: they have the opportunity to lure some apple consumers with a cheap premium product. However, to further contradict myself, the average consumer is going to start seeing these in shops soon. The price and product should ensure this is actually a runaway success and only early adopters are left grumbling.

Be optimistic as chances are you'll recieve a good unit and not a bad unit. The last 3 Apple devices I bought I had to get replaced.

Disagree. Whipping a 10 incher out in public makes you just look an iNerd, sorry but it does.

If I had a ten incher I'd be wipping it out in public all the time.

I have no motivation at work today. I have a new toy at home waiting :(

I'm sure a lot of this angst comes from the fact that we, as a collective are generally far more savvy as to what issues there can be due to our inherent internet based mindset when compared with the general public. The amount of times I see other peoples technology and think to myself 'I'd have sent that back' is quite shocking, same with the number of times I see badly calibrated screens, put plainly, the general public as a mob just don't know what they are looking at and therefore manufacturers can get away with shipping units that do have minor issues because they know that in the majority of cases they can get away with it.

I've owned the Touchpad since the Firesale so know exactly where tablet sizes fit into daily use.

Also had a cheap £100 7" Android tablet in the past with non IPS screen running 2.3. bad...very bad.

The N7 has no missing "screen space", the resolution is as high as a 10" tablet.
