Is there a rule on posting sources in this thread? People listing of transfers with storys behind them with first no source and then also no quote, I mean at least put a bit of effort into the rumours.

Dempsey is looking like a done deal according to NESN.com:

he Boston Red Sox are celebrating Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary this season, and Liverpool FC is going to be a part of the historic summer. The football club will be partaking in a three game North American tour, which includes a stop in Boston for a game at Fenway Park. The team has added Fabio Borini and Clint Dempsey to a team that came within a game of winning the FA Cup.

I really don't agree. We were killing teams at the start of the year until we lost Cleverley, Anderson and Vidic for the entire season. You are basing your view that City would have rinsed the league last year had they not lost Yaya for a few games and Silva hadn't gone off the boil after christmas.

i was far from over the moon when city won but i do believe they deserved it more than united. united did not have a great season.

you mention cleverly. wasn't it his first season? there's no saying he could have kept up what he was doing, he is still unproven. anderson hasn't lived up to expectation and i'm sure not many united fans would miss him. vidic is a valid point.

this season will be the best in a long time imo. chelsea could be city's biggest threat, i'm just no sold on RDM.

Anderson has had loads of injury problems which he may never overcome but he was playing well at the start of the season. As others have said, we have thrown away so many games this year so we wouldn't have needed much more from Cleverly and Anderson to have won the league.

Of course City deserved to win the league. I would be surprised if you find many united fans that don't agree. The fact that we would have won the league almost certainly had we not had so many injuries leads me to think that with a fit team and our new players, it would be rather silly to think that Chelsea or City are going to run away with it.

Without Drogba last season, Chelsea would have had a dire time and won absolutely zip and come 6th in the league. They haven't replaced him at all yet and bar a ridiculous trip to the CL trophy I can't see how you think that Chelsea will be stronger than United next year.

I don't mean to be rude but I get the distinct impression that you have no love for United and you come across as rather biased against them. We can only wait and see but it would be nice if you explain why you think a team with a very unproven manager, a poor previous seasons form and one that has lost its talismanic striker who wins so many games for them single handedly is likely to do better than United who have strengthened their team and will have their full squad this year. City will be knocking about the top I am sure but Chelsea, I'm not so sure.

I am really looking forward to the new season and I think City, United and Chelsea will all be competing. Arsenal will be fighting for 4-6th I reckon along with Newcastle, Tottenham and Liverpool if Brenden Rogers can sort them out.

They won by goal Difference... Against a team with the most injury's in the whole league. So while they might not have as many big names as city there obviously just as strong as a team or city would have walked the league.

Yes they won by goal difference. How did they do this? By crushing utd at old trafford. That was a truer sign of the difference between the two sides. They might have had some indifferent form later in the season but in terms of head to head results lets just say we wouldn't have been so close.

not at all, i'm not biased towards anyone. i'm a spurs fan, admitting that chelsea may be city's biggest threat. that's not easy to do :p. i am basing this on the players they've signed this window. they don't seem to have strengthened in defence and it could be a case of too many cooks in midfield, so it might be nothing to write home about. we will see in a few weeks.

Saying that RVP will much rather join a team that will/can win trophies. Now which team has proved more that they CAN win trophies. United or City? The word "will" is more speculation/hope than fact.

Tom, you are seriously going to be wasting your effort trying to explain such things to some of the people in here. Why bother. They're all over the moon that Man Utd are finally being challenged as their clubs have failed to do so.

They're also getting well ahead of themselves, but we'll see how things play out.

He'd be a good player for Spurs. If that's a recent picture...

a lot of them are more unproven than Cleverley - so if that arguement works for one, it has to work for the others also :)

Dont get me wrong, Oscar, Hazard and the rest may well turn out to be brilliant .......but just as easily they might not (Im going off how great Veron was before he arrived at Utd, and then Chelsea, and how it didnt work out - and this was a well reputed player at the top of his game rather than untested youngsters)

:)

of course we're over the moon. i've seen ferguson bat off (in rough chronological order) liverpool, villa, liverpool, blackburn, newcastle, arsenal, chelsea. city are just another in quite a long list. long may it continue, it would be zzzz if it didn't happen.

it's not a recent picture. it's from AVB's porto days app.

hey. no one wants it to go **** up for chelsea more than me. well, maybe a few 1000000 people want it to happen more :D

They're more unproven than Cleverley? Cleverley's played for Manyoo TEN TIMES. Ten. One more than nine. And has never been capped by England.

Marin played for Werder Bremen 87 times. And has been capped 16 times by Germany. He's only five months older than Cleverley.

Then Hazard - he was the first non-French player to win the young player of the year award, and was the only player to ever win it twice. He then won the player of the year award twice. He's then played 147 times for Lille and 28 times for Belgium. He's basically one year and five months younger than Cleverley.

Obviously they're not guaranteed to be ridiculous ballers... but to say they're a lot more unproven than Cleverley is absolute folly.

There are no degrees of unproven for most players. Either you have proven yourself at a level or you haven't. Hazard and Marin haven't and nor has Cleverley or half the United young talent. You buy potential at that age usually and Hazard has bags of it but that is not the same as being a proven player.
