*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

Had a play with mine now and i wanted to ask,do any of you find the screen kinda 'meh' in that it looks fine but doesn't really look all that great,it does indeed look kinda dull as a professional reviewer put.

What are you comparing it to?

For the money the screens pretty good, not the best but good.

I only used mine for a very brief period earlier but I noticed the screen looked rather dull. Colours didn't seem to pop at all, but that could ofcourse be because I didn't tweak any brightness settings.

its the Nvidia chip,i have the toshina AT100 with Tegra 2 & its dull too.i have noticed Nvidia always made displays appear rather dull & colours washed out.

the samething goes for Ps3 (nvidia gpu) when compared to xbox360 which has Ati gpu. hence why Sony is going with AMD/Ati for Ps4.

The HTC One X says that's rhubarb... that's so bright and vibrant it'll melt your retina's at 20 paces on maximum brightness..

:)

Indeed, the One X screen is extremely bright. I don't think it's the GPU at all.

Lol @ it's Tegra 3's fault.

He might be an ATI (AMD) fanboy!

Just received mine completely out of the blue, got my shipping email at 20:30 last night so was expecting delivery tomorrow!

It's on charge atm, can't wait to have a play :)

Also taken a good look at mine and no sign of the screen glue issue, have to say it's a very luxurious feeling device. Feels very solidly made!

I think I would rather one of these, much more comfortable to hold while in bed etc.

I've found that with a 7" tablet it just disappears in the hand and thumbs are all over the front. Between the iPad 3 and the GT 10.1 the latter wins because of its wider screen format and its weight. Again it's all down to personal preference.

For the kind of stuff I'd do on a tablet about 7 inches is about right....7.7 inches to be exact :D

You can't get any real work/stuff done on these things, it's just a expensive shiny toy.

Mine is waiting for me at home - glad I stuck with GP despite poor communications. At least no need to worry about returning a spare device, getting refunds etc. But it is a shame that they can't talk to customers.

Just been playing about nor for the past couple of hours, one thing I have to keep telling myself is the price I payed for it, no way does it feel or respond as though it was under £200.

Does anyone have a link to a good tutorial in how to side load Flash from an older version?
Does it involve rooting or anything cause I really wouldn't fancy that!

Just install it and run a browser that supports it (I'm using Dolphin HD).

I've typed documents and looked at spreadsheets. Photoshop Touch is fairly naff because of the image resolution constraints. It's all a bit like going back in time. As to real work well I’ve done that on a Windows 8 slate but that is in a different ball park with its 4GB of ram, a powerful processor and proper applications. The trade-off here is an even larger widescreen and weight.

At the end of the day it is a shiny toy with multimedia capabilities and internet access but it is a good toy because of its great portability.

Its really just as a workaround to use iPlayer, via browser, will that work?

K, so cant find the installer for it in the play market as it just excludes it, how do i download it!?

Yep, although the flash version I'm running (got it from XDA) crashes Dolphin if you try and put it into full screen mode. Other sites I've tried play full screen perfectly.
